What is the best way to transport and store the i3 mk3s?

Hi, I bought the kit to build the printer myself. When I tried to test the printer yesterday, family members complained about the smell as ventilation in my room  is poor. They asked me to take it to school by car to print it.

1. Any good suggestion on what to put the printer into during transportation?

2. Am I correct that after each transportation, I need to recalibrate the printer?

3. Is it recommended to put the printer inside an enclosure when it is not printed? Somewhere in the forum I read that enclosure is good to prevent dusts from getting into the printer's components. How bad could the printer be if I just put it in open space in bedroom?

1) Carry the printer by the upper frame.

2) Sitting on cardboard or anything clean and firm is fine for transport. Does not need to be in anything.

3) I built the Lack Ikea enclosure and like it. Anything to keep dust off is good. A sheet would work

4) Calibrating after a move is good. Only takes twelve minutes..

5) Most PLA and PETG filaments are odorless. My printer is in my kitchen and has no smell.

Thanks. I was printing PLA and they complained! One issue I have with the Lack Ikea enclosure is that it takes so many hours (over 100?) to print the parts. Can Prusa sell the part?

Some PLA does smell unpleasant. If IKEA route is too much for you, there are also easier/cheaper ones. Just keep in mind that you need a good filtration system anyway to reduce the smell, doesn't matter which box you're using.

Mine smelled for the first few prints. I have smelled the "burning in" scent many times in life and it will probably go away after about 10 hours or so of printing, at least mine did. As others said though some filaments have an odor.

Or maybe you just got used to the smell 😉

Thanks for this post!  I was interested in the same question.

I am in the US and found this folding photo box enclosure that will work for the Mk3S and in fact there are reviewers who have used it for that purpose:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GKGGICC

The size needed for the typical Mk3S with spool on top is 18 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 24 inches high.

An enclosure is mostly used to print temperature sensitive (shrinkage) materials like ABS, ASA and Nylon. To remove the smell a proper filtering system must be used. PLA and PETG can be printed without an enclosure.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉
