Re: Unboxing, build reports, reviews... Link collection
Thanks for streaming the hole MK3 build - missed 6h in the middle due to sleep 😉
Nullzero, you did very well considering, first ever 3D printer build 😀
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Thanks for tuning in guys! You really helped me get my printer up and running! I still have so much to learn, but its going to be a fun ride.
As for the stream, yeah, it looks like it only saved 4 hours. Youtube says the stream is "processing", which means it... might... unlock the other 20 hours of the print stream? Later? I'm not very experienced with the youtubes, so I'm not sure. It may never be more than 4 hours... which would be a real shame, but... I guess that's just part of the learning curve. Maybe I'll try another one with the Multi-Material Upgrade. ;D
At least in the 4 hour stream, you get to see the final benchy. I think it turned out pretty good, considering its my first print ever. Looking forward to tweaking and nailing down the settings even more. I hope you guys get your MK3 printers soon! Consider doing a livestream! It helped me a ton!!

Nullzero. During the test print, didn't you said you were hearing some rattling noise inside the PSU?
Sorry... I was half a sleep and don't quite remember.
I'm asking this because their is another user reporting something similar.
Re: Unboxing, build reports, reviews... Link collection
I'm still learning all the sounds and rattles that the printer is making. Not sure what is out of place, and what is normal.
But yeah, there was some rattling, and I believe the rattle was the Einsy housing. I think I must not have attached it tightly... those screws were really hard to get at.
I have since moved the printer onto a lack table, and I don't notice the rattling much anymore. But I am noticing a really squeaky mouse sound now though. And I think I have narrowed it down to the filament feed. If I place my finger on the filament, I can feel vibrations in the filament that happen at the same time as the loud squeaking sound happen.
Here is a youtube clip:
In my 24 hour state of no sleep and delerium, it is possible that I mistook this squeeky for the rattling Einsy. But I'm not 100% sure.
The printer doesn't sound quite as loud in the video. The mic is right next to all the fans and motors, etc. But the squeak is at such a different frequency than everything else, it really stands out.
Re: Unboxing, build reports, reviews... Link collection
The sound is defenetly from the filament. I had this also some time ago whith my homebuild corexy printer. When the filamet retracts you get the sound and when the travel move is done you get the sound from insert the filament back again.
Whith my printer it was the counter bearing that was robbing in his house. In this case it is the bontech gears, maybe they touching somwere the plastic housing. It is also possible there is some lose filemant that runs thrue the gears.
I have not recieved yet my printer 🙁 so i can not give you a more specifiek detail.
Maybe try 2 small prints next to eachother and watch if it is every time when the nozzel move from one part to the other. After that you can print the same without retration and look if the sound is then much less then before.
Greetings

found this today on youtube.

found this today on youtube.
I watched this one. No talking, and it is 80% filled with the guy tightening and loosening his Y axis components while he tries to get the base perfectly flat. Not that informative.
Re: Unboxing, build reports, reviews... Link collection
Getting that base perfectly flat is tricky.
Re: Unboxing, build reports, reviews... Link collection
Indeed getting the base flat is tricky. Mine would not sit flat no matter what I tried.
The 5mm holes in the front/back plates are too tight and does not allow enough room for adjustment.
I drilled them to 5.5mm and it somewhat helped.
Then I discovered the front plate was warped... I contacted support and they are sending me a replacement.
So check your front/back plates are actually flat and the holes properly aligned if you're having troubles squaring the frame.

Any other tips and tricks to start thinking about that you have found useful ?
Seems there is a issue with PS making a rattle, presumably the isolation barrier, or perhaps the internal fan that will need to be looked into.
And the bontech gears or fillement seems to be fouling on something making a squeaking sound on several units reportedly from people checking in.

Are you guys receiving the 2-part spool holder, or the new 1-piece with your MK3?

Both.

Two new "sound tests", amazingly quiet I must say.

Very nice indeed!
Just one important comment - don't use the washer on the X-axis idler bearing screw! The head is supposed to sit inside the printed part and adding the washer introduces multiple issues.
Re: Unboxing, build reports, reviews... Link collection

I need to print another part.. its on my "do it soon" list 🙂 I just hate that I don't have any Prusa Orange ABS to use.. only some Grey 🙁

Hi Ron,
Watched all your videos on Sunday and they should really help a lot when I get my MK3. Thanks for doing them.
I checked the x-axis idler part .stl CAD where you mentioned you had the head of the screw pull thru. The inner surface of the counterbore does have a thin section where the head of the screw comes to a rest. Did that thin plastic section get pulled thru and break?
Are you by chance located in Michigan, USA? 😀
