Translucent red petg going crystaline
Have bee using YS black petg for a few weeks ,all good at 255 and 90c, so i needed some more so i thought i would get a red YS, as it had been good.
the red cane and it is a translucent/clear red, looks really nice.
printed the same parts and at same temps, This when it all goes wrong
I am getting blocked nozzles, when i did print it came out all like crystals had formed on the layers.
this made it very weak and brittle.i have used it at 240 and was no better.
two things i have been thinking...
1. are different colours/ clear type of filament going to need different temps even for the same make?
2. could this be air bubbles, thinking about it i have heard it popping a few times, if so what can i do about it?

RE: Translucent red petg going crystaline
The same brand filament can have different settings depending on color. I use Devil Design PETG and the translucent filaments prints best at a little lower temperature. Moisture in the filament makes popping sounds when it is extruded and makes it curl up and sticking to the nozzle. Moisture in the filament also has other unwanted features.
I dry my PETG in a food dehydrator from time to time.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Thanks for that info. The Red petg was brand new , only been out of the plastic bag for a hour or so.
think i might now have understood where i went wrong, gone down 10 c and seems much cleaner all round.
i have yet to try it on the print that was causing me the problems
