Re: Tired and indignant
I'm curious how you were able to run LA v1.5 on a MK3, as there has never been any compilation of the Prusa MK3 firmware with LA 1.5.
It's amazing what you can learn and do on github.
Reading pull and merge requests is quite interesting.
Re: Tired and indignant
Ah, so you must be building off notnyt's fork then... gotcha.
Re: Tired and indignant
Can you post a link for #SLabPrint? I googled that but had a google fail.
thanks in advanced

Re: Tired and indignant
Based on some of the comments and attitudes noted in this thread I'm glad I spent the extra money for a pre-built. I've had multiple 3d printers in the past and this MK3 is incredible. I wish people would stop spreading rumors such as the lack of LA support. I use it on every print, can push my print speeds up to and over 200% and the results are very impressive. (NO, I'm not saying the results are the same but on those prints, I can live with a little loss of quality but I get to choose that.)
I've been using both LA V1.0 and V1.5 and they both have some pros and cons. I also am using OctoPrint/Octopi running on a Rasberry 3 via USB and I get ZERO communication issues.
I agree that perhaps Prusa should have done an initial release only to advance users to locate and fine tune some of the bugs that showed up but IMO I'm very confident that all issues will be addressed and resolved.
Bottom line is that my MK3 is made from the same parts as most all other MK3's, disregarding parts revisions, but it was assembled by a team of people that are very good at building 3D printers.
I don't say the MK3 in general is bad. I say my MK3 is one of the bad ones.
There are a few threads in this forum where people have the same problem. And they are just from this month:

And i would not say i have no experience. I print since 4 years on 4 different machines of which 3 where self built kits. And this MK3 is the only one i can't get to print in a decent quality.

Lack of LA support isn't a rumor. Prusa themselves disabled this and it's only recently been turned back on in their 3.2.0 Alpha firmware. I released firmware for the unaffected/minimally affected sdcard users not long after they did this; however, people are now using it with Octoprint with little issue despite the disclaimers not to. There were problems with LA and serial users, it's just that there have been several tweaks in other areas that have lightened up on CPU load enough that most people aren't seeing serial communication timeouts now. There are still some users seeing this problem though, it's there.

I'm a little slow with regard to the alpha software, do you by chance have a link to the hex file?
Thanks

There were over 100 commits recently with a bump to "3.2.0 Alpha" in the version section of the code. When I compiled it and pushed it to the MK3, it gave me a single message that my board type had changed and that I would need to do self tests, etc again. Also, my Z axis consistently fails self test now, but everything still works fine and it prints great. The board change was a bit spooky though.
If you still want it knowing that, shoot me a PM. 🙂

Well, tried to PM it but no luck. I'll go ahead and post it here, but with the following disclaimer to anyone who wants to give it a shot:

Thanks Mate. I'm gonna check the linearity settings on mine, to see if that helps eliminate some of my issues, too. 🙂 Hopefully the new firmware will get pushed out soon, anyway.

@ Brigandier,
have you noted something changed in the PINDA Temp. Calibration routine?

None that I am aware of, but 100 commits is a lot to go through. 🙂

Re: Tired and indignant
I was in contact with support. What we figured out is that the rpm of the print fan is at 4500. But after a while of printing it drops to 4000 rpm.
Maybe it's the same with your printer. You can check the prm of the print fan under Support -> Extruder info.

[*]My selftest fails on Z axis, but everything is printing fine (my best prints yet).

The changes to the PINDA calibration can be quite drastic depending on which PINDA you have and what you have done in the past. That might explain the Z self test failure. When changing from 3.1.2 or below to anything after I think you should factory reset and then do the wizard deal over and then 'Temperature Cal' ie (PINDA cal) again with the steel sheet off ect. if the Wizard doesn't do it. Watch the Z for bed crashing as if new when doing the Wizard.
I'm not completely sure but the sweet spot of the PINDA may have changed causing you to have to move the PINDA down a little. It's fairly linear explaining your success with temp changes, but the Z self test may be based on an outdated offset explaining it's failure.

Sorry, lack of clarity on my part. It's failing Z on the self test portion where it moves each axis back and forth to confirm stepper function, and fails before the pinda gets anywhere near the bed. Everything is working fine though, prints and bed calibrate without issue. May try the entire reset/recalibrate when I get home.

I agree your printer, and the OP, looks to be more out of spec than most. I am getting much better prints than what I see in your pictures. I did replace the Z and X ends, but I was already starting out better than where you are. So this printer is capable of better. Hopefully support can get you sorted out. That said, I am still not happy with my print quality as it is not as good as my MK2s.
Re: Tired and indignant
another thread reminded me, make sure your printer is very stable first. Print on the floor if needed. Switch to hard feet (some in my sig link). Get the filament spool off the frame.
Re: Tired and indignant
@ Brigandier,

There are a few commits where the MK3 is not the default printer, so you have to overwrite Firmware/Configuration_prusa.h with Firmware/variants/1_75mm_MK3-EINSy10a-E3Dv6full.h . I haven't installed it yet, being away on a business trip, so I can't say for sure it will fix your problem.
The latest revision (42e902e41aa2ac49f6f7d1ad46159984dd17a590) does have the MK3 as default printer, no copying needed.
Re: Tired and indignant
or they don't even know it... there are plenty of noobs posting "got my printer dialed in good" on reddit and showing prints that are utter shit from their new mk3s. they don't have anything to compare it to.
There should be a thread dedicated to this... Like an outreach program.
"Hi kiddo... Uhhh... just wanted to let you know... You might need to ask for help tuning your printer?"
If anyone ever comments on mine I have a legit excuse.
I pay 11$ /kg of filament. (honestly, 95% of my issues are cheap filament. When I pull out the big guns (E-Sun PLA+ or Hatchbox) I have not yet had a failed print on the mk3, unless it was a slicing issue I created... But I can't blame the printer, or the filament for those.
