Time remaining estimate

I've updated to the latest Slic3r PE, and I thought I saw on the release notes that it supports time remaining display on the LCD with the latest firmware. Is this true? I don't see it on-screen, how do I enable or show it if that's the case?

Try Printer Settings->General->Firmware->Supports remaining times.

I wondered this too.. But then thought that it might only work when directly printing via USB.

Does it work if you export GCODE and print from the printer?

Are the settings you mention (Printer Settings->General->Firmware->Supports remaining times.), in Sli3er or on the printer?

afaik this is a feature in the 3.4.0 release canditate (Beta) and not yet in the released Firmware 3.3.1

The release log says

" "Remaining time to finish" feature implemented (firmware 3.3.0 or higher required)"

I print exclusively via USB and it works well.

Does it work if you export GCODE and print from the printer?Yes. The info is in the generated gcode, so I wouldn't expect it to matter how you print that gcode.

Yes, that is the location of the option in Slic3r. If you have that option and are running recent firmware, it should all work.

Doh.. I was looking at the options at the top (i.e File, Plater, Object, Window,etc).. I realise now its under the "Printer Settings" tab.

I checked and my "Supports Remaining Time" option is ticked.. But I don't see remaining time on the printer.....

What firmware are you on? I'm running 3.3.1-485. It shows up on the right of the display during prints with an "R" next to it. It seems pretty accurate.

Strange.. I am running the same and do not see this.. I will check again tonight....

Search for M73 command in a gcode. If it's not there, then you have to check Slic3r and reslice. The estimate is more or less in alpha stage. They fixed most of the stuff in the 3.4.0 firmware and most recent slic3r.

Re: Time remaining estimate

I print exclusively via USB & Pronter McPronterface. It has a time remaining readout, but the thing jumps around a bit as the print progresses (generally in the shorter direction, but not always). I understand time remaining may be an important issue for some; fortunately, I can go by whatever Slic3r (or McPronterface) says, but so far everything I've printed has been under 8 hours (the longer ones are coming.... 😯 )

Good point. You do have to re-slice!

Re: Time remaining estimate

Its working for me now.. I am not sure whats changed, but I wonder if I simply never noticed the "R" in the time.

Re: Time remaining estimate

Lately I also used Slic3r for exporting my g-code and showing the remaining print time on the lcd worked well.
Now I´m using simplify3d and want to know if it´s also possible to show the remaining print time on the printer instead of showing the elapsed print time?

Tanks

Unless they add the capability in Simplify 3D (unlikely given their plodding development pace) I don't think so. Prusa actually embeds codes in the generated gcode to print those estimates. They're not calculated on the fly by the printer in any way.

I haven't seen any variables for remaining time in S3D. That's a question for the S3D forum. As bobstro already mentioned Prusa firmware just provides a gcode command which you can use to set the times, no calculation is happening in the firmware.
