Thermal Runaway

Anyone else in the community having to replace 5amp fuses once a week for thermal runaway? Im baffled as to why this is occurring.

when this trouble began, there was uncontrolled heating and burned out the fuse. I would replace it and start pre heating and it would climb to 295 and burn out the fuse again. this spontaneously stopped, but now I randomly have thermal runaway causing fuse burnouts.

Hi Jacob,

Themal runaway protection, shouldn't cause fuses to blow... it should remove power before temperatures get dangerous,

what temperature are you printing at?

is the thermistor connected firmly in the correct place?

does the temperature vary if you wiggle the cable bundle? the thermistor or the wiring may be breaking...

5 amps at 24 volts is 120 watts, the fuse will normally pass more than that before it ruptures...
your heater is only 30 to 40 watts. so it should not blow the fuse
check the heater wiring to ensure no short circuits

if the problem persists, contact chat!

regards Joan

I think this is likely it.

Check that your wires are not rubbed through on top of the Einsy box. Also, check to make sure that the heat cartridge wires are not touching any metal. Cause they are near it. 🙂
