Textured Spring steel instead of Coated?

Hi,

I am starting to wonder is it viable that the plastic going to stick on a textured spring steel instead of pei powder coated?

Let's say that the texture on the spring steel is actually a machine pressed to make it "rough" and if that may bot help maybe a thin layer of.... I don't know, a vinyl coating or something that feels rubbery.

I think that would be pretty hard to machine press the steel sheet to have the same texture.
Moreover, you wouldn't be able to use both sides!

You can, however, buy textured PEI sheets. I have one on order now. I'm not sure if it will be easier or harder to release prints, but I guess I'll be finding out!

No. Ebay. I don't even see it on amazon.com. Do you have a link?

Sure: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Prusa-i3-Mk3-Mk2-5-Double-sided-Pei-TEXTURED-Powder-Coated-spring-steel-sheet-V2/332649969907?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I see that it's the same seller that you are referring to, namely THEKKIINNGG.

Apparently it is a "PEI Powder Coat". Indeed,I thought that I had ordered powder coated PEI from Prusa when I ordered my kit, but I guess that's not what I actually received in the Prusa I3 MK3 kit?

What I meant was the machine press has almost same texture as the textured pei sheet, then pressed with heavy hydraulic. This in theory will rid of extra process steps of textured pei coat.

I am actually waiting for the textured pei but my mk2 connector got burnt so got no choice but to accept the emergency upgrade kit being sent right away with smooth pei.

Putting that aside, I wonder how a bare textured sheet will perform though, hard sand-like texture are somewhat the best to have the plastic stick on to the surface compared to smooth.
