Testing?

First off, this MK3 is my second Prusa after my awesome MK2S.
Disgustingly, I cannot say that the MK3 is just as fabulous. It seems to me like it took quite a while for Prusa to get MK2S dialed in where it is an excellent machine. It is going to take just as long if not longer to get these MK3's to the same standard. It is almost as if all these 70,000+ MK3 owners are beta testers.... all tinkering on a machine that was not fully ready to be released to the public.

I would think that a machine of this intellect would have been tested for at least a year before release- So that the average user can actually enjoy using the machine instead of constantly troubleshooting in-between decent prints.

Customer service has been helpful, and appreciated.... although a well tested machine before launch would have decreased the strain on them.

My experience with the MK3 has been significantly worse than the MK2S, and it does not seem to be getting any better in FW releases. I have a MK2.5 kit on order, and will probably be leaving it on a shelf in the box until the firmware is proven reliable( I estimate the end of this year at best)

In conclusion- I have the utmost confidence in my MK2S, undoubtedly. As for the MK3.... It prints ok.... if the filament sensor works, or the hotend fan does not false detect a blockage, or the Live Z works correctly, or the LCD doesn't display a bunch of garbage, or the flow rate is not manipulated by firmware.

Re: Testing?

I've had the MK2s for a short time only and sold it after placing the order for the MK3.
I also loved the MK2s and love the MK3 more.

The flex plate alone is soooo nice to have
temperature compensated PINDA is a real benefit for consistent first layer
The smooth operation and low noise is a bliss
My filament sensor as been working all the time for me, never had a misdetection

In terms of print quality I initially felt that it was not as good as the MK2s, but in the meantime I feel it has surpassed the MK2s.

I am 100% satisfied with my decision to sell the MK2s and buy the MK3.

Re: Testing?

Reading these posts makes me wonder how good the MK2 is.. I am blown away by my MK3 as it exceeds my expectations in EVERY way.. But if the MK2 much better as some people claim, I simply can't imagine how good it is.

I am coming from a Printrbot which was OK and pretty much did what I wanted... But then I bought a MK3 kit which I built in Jan but didn't switch on for months due the negativity that I read about it.. I just kept putting it off, waiting for fixes to problems I havn't even seen first hand.

When I finally turned it on (last month), it was flawless from the first print and as so far not let me down... I have printed now for more than 2 days and burned well over a KG of filament.. And ever print amazes me..

Its exponentially better than my Printrbot, so if the MK2 is really that must better, it really must be something special.

Personally speaking, the Mk3 serves me in every way I wanted, and it some ways that I never imagined it would...
