I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I'm new to 3D printing so learning as I go along. It's been working fine up until this recent 19hr print which did complete but its very noisy. 

What would you suggest I try in terms of maintenance to see all is ok with the printer? Thank you

There´s definitely a lot of strange sounds you're having. I wonder, could one of them be the nozzle hitting the part as its going over? How does your finished part look?

Wow! Sounds like a couple of noises all at once.  

Mostly, it sounds like the Extruder stepper motor is "skipping" steps.  This usually means that is is trying to move the filament, but something is causing the filament to be harder to move than the stepper is capable of.  Usually when this occurs the print is ruined.

Possible causes of stepper motor skipping steps  include:

Setting a larger nozzle size in the slicer that the printer actually has, like choosing a 0.6mm nozzle in PrusaSlicer when the machine actually has a 0.4mm nozzle,  

The temperature of the hotend is too low for the filament used, like if you sliced it for PLA and you put Polycarbonate (PC)  in the printer, This can also happen if the thermistor is malfunctioning or the wrong thermistor is used.

The filament binding up on the spool so that the extruder cannot  pull it  through

Misalignment of the Bondtech gears inside of the extruder

Something clogging the nozzle, heatbreak or PTFE tube

Thanks for your reply. 

After performing some maintenance on my printer, I've been able to resolve almost all of the issues. There was quite a lot of debris (dust) attached to the cogs/wheels pulling the filament. Once removed the filament was pulled through fine and no more noise. 

I have since had the same issue again with a new spool of filament where its still catching a lot of dust? How can I stop this from happening?

I've never had dusty filament but here's an idea if you're pretty sure the filament is dusty and not being shredded inside of the extruder.....

Get a piece of felt about 25mm square, fold it over and stitch it or even staple it so that a channel is formed. 

Then feed the filament through the folded felt, then into the extruder.  The felt will wipe the filament clean as is is drawn through without causing any large amount of drag.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. It's more than likely shredding the filament.

There are loads of filament dust filters you can print such as this as one example https://www.printables.com/model/43403-filament-dust-filter-parametric   but there are a ton more.  I have a couple that I use as my room is dusty and I leave my PLA out for weeks so ruling that out is good and its always useful to have them anyway.

I agree though that its far more likely that you are wearing the filament with the gears.  This would suggest that your extruder feed tension is off.  Either too much so its grinding away or too loose so that its slipping and shaving bits off.  Some filament 'dust' is normal which is why you do have to periodically go in and clean them but that should only be every several months really.

Thanks for your advise. Love the filament dust filter! I'll get that printed today to see if it improves things.

RE:

Back off the tension screw a quarter of a turn.  You may be a bit tight.
