Re: Spring steel sheet availability

Update... support is shipping a new steel.
It's odd how part of the spring steel was deformed. I couldn't see it, but Mike's machine detected a +0.102mm difference.

At this point, I'd be happy with a blank piece of steel for $10+free ship... Of course, the existing stickered sheets aren't even being sold either. This really sucks Josef Prusa!!!

But you could buy the stickers and sticker the sheet yourself.

Let me make it absolutely clear for you. I need the steel, not the sticker. I had a nuclear engineer use a machine to analyze my existing sheet. The steel itself is BULGING in one part of the bed, bottom right quarter. Auto bed level does not correct this. Nothing is UNDER the sheet when it is placed on the printer. I just want to purchase a replacement. That is all. Stickered or not. Preferrably not, because I'd put gizmodorks PEI on it instead of this thin stuff. lol

Replacing the sticker will not fix the steel!!! And support continually blamed layer height.

Oh and btw, it has been over 7 months since the spring steel powder coated sheets were promised.... just a reminder.

Add me to the list of people who received a false email.

After waiting 6 months for the sheet, receiving this email, then being told 'oops, my bad' and now being dumped back into limbo, I am very disappointed. 😡

Oh so now you're the one screwing up the orders. I see how it goes. 😀

Interesting how the textured version is creeping up the store page when I refresh. It's moved from being grouped at the bottom to several spaces up above other out-of-stock items. I wonder if that implies anything stock-wise?

Re: Spring steel sheet availability

I don't really care about the coated one, but what bothers me the most is that if something were to happen to the one I currently have, it simply impossible to buy a replacement.

I'm in this boat after almost 7 month of usage. my spring steel started to bulging in the middle from bending and not sure why under the pei I surface rust spots. I did try build tek and it SUCKS for what i need it for. It so easy to damage with PETG not even funny. But they should sell just plain sheet for ppl wanting to use other surfaces. Lucky i have 2 other mk3 until they are aviable. Also I hope unlike the MMU 2.0 upgrade, that the ppl with voucher will be prioritized over others. I got screwed waiting for my voucher to be applied by over 1.5 week, which put in longer queue.

Radioactive sheets, what a concept 😆

💡 Great business opportunity, I'm sure they will sell like hot (yellow) cakes.

I'd try it if the plate was about $15 cheaper...

You might want to read some of the comments here before buying that. Unless I'm mistaken, that's the product being discussed.

Thanks. I had some damage on mine. Some from my fist experiments using PETG and also from failed bed levelling. Just ordered two so I will have a spare :).

Re: Spring steel sheet availability

I've just got information from Prusa chat about textured PC sheet, for early orders like my mk3 kit I ordered in september 2017, but sent with a PEI replacement sheet, they told me the PC sheet would be available for order late this summer in the e-shop. Hope they speak about summer 2018....

Re: Spring steel sheet availability

I got a similar response (ordered in November). It's aggravating that having ordered my printer relatively early disqualifies me from ordering a powder-coated sheet until later buyers get theirs, but at least the printer works well with the PEI sheet anyway.

Re: Spring steel sheet availability

I ordered with the PC plate the 1st week of January. By March, they said opting to get the sticker plate then and a coupon for the PC plate was optional, so I did. It sounded like they forced some people to the sticker bed later, which makes sense since they can't have a warehouse full of idle printer inventory. It's aggravating, but it's a tricky part and I'd rather they get it right than ship before it's fully ready. I am relieved additional sticker plates can be ordered now.

Has anybody tried putting down blue tape on the PEI sticker sheet to get some 1st layer texture?

I may still order a Build-Tak plate and apply BT on one side and PEI on the other as an experiment. I'm not reading about any other options that seem to work well.

...

I did. PEI Sticker print bed surface is same as the old surface on the MK2S on which I used blue tape Kapton tape a lot. It's actually easier to cover the plates with tape as you can remove it and handle it differently. The only think you have to do is change the live Z (I use a 100um offset for blue tape). The downside of blue tape is that high temperature seems to deteriorate it quicker. Additionally, warping is a lot more common when using blue tape.
