Spring steel sheet availability
Is this some kind of joke?
It's the second time I get a mail from Prusa telling me spring sheets are available. Within 2 seconds of receiving the mail I click on the link and they aren't available (anymore?) for ordering.
What are they doing? Sending out a mail to all interested parties as soon as they have 10 in stock? 👿
Maybe they should check how many people registered for the 'notify me' mail and make sure they have enough availability before mailing everyone?
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Same here. I couln't have been any faster than I was. Still no luck... 😮
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Same here, and no voucher ($10 and free shipping voucher) yet. Not sure if there was any available or a bug?
I cannot find chat anymore on prusa's store to ask, (may be the pi hole blocklist that blocks it.)
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
According to the chat the mail has been sent mistakenly.
Bummer, but not the end of the world 😉
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Same here. 2nd time it has happened. I receive the mails and go instantly there but no vouchers and no sheets to buy.
What is going on?
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Big disappointment from Prusa... Over half a year later and still nothing
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Holy sheet, the production of these is taking way too long. 🙄
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
I don't really care about the coated one, but what bothers me the most is that if something were to happen to the one I currently have, it simply impossible to buy a replacement.

You can buy replacement PEI sheets and replace the surface yourself.
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Knowing how handy I am with stickers over big surfaces that shouldn't have any bubbles .... it will cost me less to just order a new sheet 😀
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
Everything I've heard recently regarding the PEI powder-coated sheets is about the textured surface. Has anyone heard about the glossy PEI powder-coated sheets?
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
The good news is that they seem to have an email queued up and ready to send, so presumably the pipeline is filling up. I'm anxious, but I think Prusa has done right by working to shorten the printer order process 1st. They've apparently started shipping PC plates to those who waited for them with their original orders. Hopefully, the rest of us will get a shot at ordering spares soon.
It looks like the Build-Tak plates are a good option in the meantime. The ability to have any combination of Build-Tak, Gecko Tech and PEI sticker surfaces adds some flexiblity. I still want the Prusa original, but this gives me a "Plan B" if something happens to my sole plate.
Ordering Prusa Orange PETG is equally challenging. Only after I had already ordered a suitable substitute did I get a chance to actually buy some from Prusa.

Re: Spring steel sheet availability
From what I've read, the glossy PEI powder-coated sheet will provide the same finish as the existing PEI sticker, only without worries about lifting or tearing the sheet.

Now if only Prusa would release a sheet with both PC finishes on opposite sides...

Re: Spring steel sheet availability
I chatted with support this morning as well. Got the same answer as previous poster...Was another false alarm email sent by mistake.
I also asked about the fact that some customers had either received shipping notices for the powder coated sheet, or had actually received the new sheet already. He said that those were "samples" that had been selectively sent out, and that the powder coating was still "in testing". He then said it "could be two months" before I receive my voucher and can actually order the product.
I ordered my MK3 in September 2017...so basically it's going to be a full year before I get the powder coated sheets that Josef began marketing over a year ago. I work in manufacturing so I fully understand encountering technical issues and hurdles when bringing a new product to market. But a full year delay? Wow.

Right, but I haven't heard anything about when they may be available.
I agree, it'd be great to have smooth on one side and textured on the other.
Re: Spring steel sheet availability
At this point, I'd be happy with a blank piece of steel for $10+free ship... Of course, the existing stickered sheets aren't even being sold either. This really sucks Josef Prusa!!!

Re: Spring steel sheet availability
I was able to order the PEI sticker sheet without issue. It's often out of stock, but it wasn't particularly hard to get.

You could buy a bare flex steel sheet from BuiltTak. By the time you add a covering on both sides (don't want bare metal scraping your heated bed), it's going to be a $60 proposition.

It sounds like they were having some nasty issues with production. Not being geographically situated amongst hordes of suppliers no doubt slows things down for Prusa. It sucks, but as opposed to those companies that ship a defective product and deal with it later, I much prefer the approach JP has taken. I think it'll be one of those "well worth waiting for" experiences, much like the frustration of waiting 90+ days for a Mk3. Hated the wait, but so very glad I waited.

Let me make it absolutely clear for you. I need the steel, not the sticker. I had a nuclear engineer use a machine to analyze my existing sheet. The steel itself is BULGING in one part of the bed, bottom right quarter. Auto bed level does not correct this. Nothing is UNDER the sheet when it is placed on the printer. I just want to purchase a replacement. That is all. Stickered or not. Preferrably not, because I'd put gizmodorks PEI on it instead of this thin stuff. lol
Replacing the sticker will not fix the steel!!! And support continually blamed layer height.
Oh and btw, it has been over 7 months since the spring steel powder coated sheets were promised.... just a reminder.
