Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.41.0 (final release)

Config files are not loading for me this is the error I get... now mac OS 10.14 (Mojave)
I assume I am doing something wrong.
Safari appends a .html to all of these files when it downloads them which I then remove so the can be seen in the open dialog when command L or load configuration is selected from the File menu
Try downloading the top-level zip archive, extracting it, then pulling out the .ini files you need.

Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.41.0 (final release)

how do I get these config files to stick so I don't have to load them each time I launch the slic3r-PR?
Pretty PLA V3.ini is amazing BTW the result with some old Hatchbox PLA that I bought at a garage sale (still sealed in its bag but over 4 years old) is just as good as the Prusamelt that came with my kit... the data on the reel says that it is

±0.05mm but the one meter length that I checked with my micrometer every 10 to 20 cm was ±0.03 and averaged almost spot on at 1.753mm

darn good quality for a Chinese filament compared to some unbranded junk from there I bought for my Delta 3 years ago. That stuff was so oversize would not pass through the 2mm id PTFE tubing from the extruder drive to the hot end I ended up dumping it in the recycling bin at the transfer station.

Just go into each tab (Print Settings, Filament, Printer) and save the each profile there. It seems a bit cumbersome compared to having everything in a single profile, but it is more "modular" in that you can mix & match settings, filaments and printers without a lot of duplication.

After getting used to Slic3rPE, I get really frustrated using other slicers when I have to duplicate printer settings (e.g. startup g-code) when changing print profiles. While I wish Prusa actually added one more profile type (nozzle size), at least now I only have to create a printer profile for each nozzle size. For example, if you save Chris' Pretty PLA filament setting, you can select it with a 0.40mm nozzle or a 0.80mm nozzle without duplicating a bunch of settings. (Tip: If you set extrusion widths to 0, they'll be calculated at slice time based on your nozzle size. One print profile can work with all nozzle sizes.)

My notes on Slic3r profiles are here.

Thanks I am getting to like Slic3r-PE more and more as I use it and I have started using it with my Delta where I have never used anything but Cura.

I have to agree.. I had Printrbot before and only ever used Cura (15), so didn't even use the "new" version.

It did everything I wanted and I really liked the fact that I could print directly via USB.. This fact was the very thing that put me off upgrading/changing.

But a few months in and I wouldn't want to go back to CURA again.. Now that I am using Octopi and FlashAir, I don't need to keep swapping SDs as I feared, and for me its a near perfect solution.

I'm finding it much easier to figure out settings for new printer settings, nozzle sizes and filament using Slic3rPE. Then, once I've got settings that are "close", I can easily transpose those into their equivalent settings in another slicer. This is really important for figuring out speeds that correspond to max volumetric throughput limits. So far, "reverse engineering" settings from Slic3rPE to Cura, ImageMaker and Simplify 3D has worked well.

How can i specifiy a noozle temperature change for sequential printing using the macro field? So first object at 220 second one with 230? I did it with layers using the macro but how to distinguish between objects using macros?

I hope you may use current_object_idx variable inside the between_objects_gcode.
