RE: Shipping i3 MK3S+ to US

Yeah - the time I had declared some spendy items that were tax free, and down at the bottom of my luggage they found a cheap wifey trinket I had purchased early in the trip but hadn't listed it on my customs form (I paid around $5 for it and had receipts to prove the value was inconsequential compared to the things I had declared): I still paid a $100 fine. The guy's logic was "You travel enough you should know the rules!"

I had a 5 week lead time but once it was shipped it got to me in a few days. It took me 16 hours to build though but I took my time 🙂

The current lead time is 1-2 weeks. I guess it's improving compared to what I saw a few months ago.

Building is another challenge, but I don't anticipate any major issues as I have good experience with those sorts of things. Plus, I have another unit (Sidewinder X1) which I assembled and disassembled dozens of times already. Prusa i3 will be my secondary unit.

Not to mention having it as a Kit must be a lot of fun too.

I'm sure you've read this recommendation a bunch of times but if you follow the printed directions, take some time to read the online version as well. There are some things in the online directions that aren't included in the printed directions that will help you out in the long run.

Interesting. Actually, I was not aware of it. Thanks for mentioning it, I'll take a look or probably just use the online version during the assembly process.

Online version also has builder comments.  The comments are quite valuable as if you find yourself puzzled at a step, you are probably not the only one...  Helped me.

Don’t trust forum advice.

Yeah - the comments you are getting about reading the assembly manual includes reading the printing handbook that is included. It will give you a basic knowledge that becomes invaluable when you need to ask for help with something. 3D Printing has it's own language: understanding "Where are the toilets" in any language is fundamental to surviving there.

The other point said not so clearly is that building the printer is not a race. If you "win" and build it in 3 hours, you will spend the next three weeks trying to figure out what you did wrong.  Instead, take your time, build the thing over a couple of days, reread everything before you pick up a part to install. Doing this, your first print will look better than ours.

Yes, often builder comments are the key to figuring out where comments left the instructions.
