Huh, and now assembled units are shipping faster than kits.

This is the thing that kills me, when I ordered I ordered a kit because they were shipping 2 weeks faster than assembled units. Now the week my printer was supposed to ship its delayed 10 days, but the assembled units from the same week I ordered are shipping. That is almost a 4 week swing in ship times on assembled units. It feels like they are prioritizing those orders over kits. The lack of communication and updates is disturbing, I don't need a huge blog post like they have been doing once a month, but I appreciate the info posted. Even just a stickied forum post updated once a week with a new shipping table would be better than the way it is handled now. You can reach out to support and one person will say one thing and someone else will say a completely different thing. It just adds to the confusion and frustration when your ship date comes and goes. I took time off to build my printer expecting my printer to show up based on the last two updates to the shipping table, only to have those dates changed at the last minute. If there was more transparency on the dates it would just make everyone happier.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

I don't think it has anything to do with prioritizing... I think that there are just fewer assembled orders in the backlog than there were at launch. They probably have kept the assembly staff on hand cranking them out as fast as they can to keep up. In any event, I would imagine they are still shipping far more kits each day than assembled units.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Our sheet was expecting a shipping date of around March 22nd for my order (week 2 January 8th) But the shipping table was stating from March 5th because weeks 51 and 52 and then after that weeks 1 and 2 would ship together. So ramping up the shipments. All looked good, until last week were we saw slowdowns in our sheet.

So what do you do, for the first time since ordering i asked the chat is there were delays forecasted and was told, No not at all. Your unit will ship next week as planned. Fun fact i didn't believe it while chatting with the person and now my suspicions have been confirmed. Jippykayee.

Not only a delay from a few days, nope 2 full weeks from March 5th to March 19th.
Only funny thing about this, our sheet was right all along. 🙄 😆

And then to see one order of week 3 that already was shipped out. It burns a little, but o well. Technically its still March and when i ordered it said shipment in March (before the table was updated to include March. Then i got March 1st, then 5th, now 19th. So Josef one thing, please no more delays! 😆

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

So look... if you are on the fence about ordering a MK3 reading this bullshit contemplating an order I have some advice for you...

Go into this with the foreknowledge that you are looking at a 60 day back order for kits... if you are comfortable with putting up 800 bucks and waiting 60 days then place the order... but don't look at it and think these guys are getting caught up because that is not the case.

When I ordered mine back order was 34 days but now here at the end the order has been bounced twice and its going to end up being about 64 days... I'm disappointed but now that I have waited this long I'm hanging in there for my printer.

However, if I had known back then that I was going to be waiting this long I probably would have held off my order until later this year until all of this horseshit was worked out.

No offense to the others but I can't wait until i'm done with this thread and the damn tracking spreadsheet.

My suggestion to Prusa Research is that they should stop confirming that shipping dates are still on track in live chat since this answer is not based on the reality of the situation. Just say you don't have a damn clue....

[...] if you are comfortable with putting up 800 bucks and waiting 60 days then place the order [...]

You guys know you don't have to pay now-- right? If you pay by invoice they will send you the necessary information, and then you won't be required to pay until it's time to ship (where if you haven't paid yet, it will delay your order until you have).

This was confirmed by Josef Prusa a few months ago.

Buy by Invoice Payment now, then wait until a week or two before your expected shipping day, then initiate the transfer (or schedule it in advance if your bank allows it) - That way your money is only in limbo for a few weeks rather than a few months.. It does require a Wire Transfer, though, which can often cost $20 or so to initiate at US banks.

Having the money tied up doesn't really bother me but I asked the chat support the day before my order if there was any way to preorder without paying and they told me no. They said I could refund at any time but had to pay at the same time I placed the order.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Has anyone noticed the new updated official shipping estimator on Prusa's site? The assembled printers are now shipping a week before the kits. I ordered my kit mid February with my own expectation of receiving it at the end of April (Hey if it comes earlier great but no big deal, rather go into it thinking worse than better). when I ordered kit showed March 26th, and assembled showed April 2nd (estimate). Now they are flipped where assembled are shipping 1st and kits later. No complaints here just curious if maybe they flipped the columns when they re-did their list.

Yes i see that (order 1/4/2018) and i hope perhaps an error (swap column "kit" and "assembled"). Before that, shipping planned next week while now, one week later.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

It is called manufacturing and is completely normal. You have to take into account unexpected issues like bad inventory from vendors, late shipment from vendors, bad quality prints coming out due to possible filament issues. They switched from rev 1 to rev 2 printed parts which I'm sure required some testing and matching up inventories and probably delayed things a bit switching over to the new revisions for a better product. You knew this would take awhile to receive before you ordered it. If you have already waited 2 months and get impatient because it was delayed a week or 2, maybe 3D printing isn't the hobby for you. This is a tinkering hobby that requires time and patience. And if you really wanted one so bar you could have ordered an older model so just sit back, shut up, and relax.

Stay Frosty.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Woot Woot. Ordered 12/21 and received my tracking order today. Im guessing there is no chance that I will get it before the weekend.....but I can hope.

I know there has been a lot of discussion about this but I'm HOPING that I get a PEI sheet removable bed so that I can take advantage of the discount rate and free shipping on the powder coated steel sheet. I would have wanted an extra bed sheet anyway and I figure this is a cheap way for me to get it.......

😆 3D printing is practically defined by its failures and frustrations. If you get this angry over a simple shipping delay, I predict you'll throw your printer through the window within a few months, no matter which printer you buy.

Ordered on 4.1. Hoping to get it next week. Though it looks like there's a three day wait from tracking to shipping 🙁

Mine shipped the day after I got notice of label creation. Label was created on Monday, shipped on Tuesday, and I received it on Friday. Took me longer to put it together than it took to get it shipped halfway around the world! Lol
