Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Coming up on day 4 of my mk3 sitting in Prague waiting for clearance. Somethings wrong

It seems like UPS has been a little backed up there since the Holidays. I wouldn't be too worried :o.

Clearance agencies are like the lottery, as it's not exactly a FIFO operation :o. It entirely depends on which queue your package gets stuck in and what packages are ahead of it in the same queue. If you go back a few pages you'll find people talking about the same hold up at the clearance agency, but it always clears up after a bit and the package makes it to its destination rapidly after the clearance agency. If your package is sitting there for more than a week I might start getting concerned. At two weeks your package is probably lost on a conveyor belt somewhere, but at 4 days I wouldn't be super concerned yet.

This is likely the slowest stop on the trip by a wide margin. Some packages are in and out in under a day, but many are sitting around for a bit. The clearance agency is likely holding some packages that they believe require additional verification (x-ray, chemical sniffer, etc) before they can clear it, which would explain the huge variance in some package's travel times through clearance. Of course it also depends which agency you hit. Some are quick while some are super slow.

Edit: Part of my comment implies there may be only one clearance agency you may get stuck at. Depending on the trip your package takes it may (and likely will) hit a number of clearance agencies, just depends on the length of the trip and which hubs it gets sent through. In the USA this is typically known as U.S. Customs, but many countries will want to check imports and exports, including packages just passing through, for contraband.

Looks like my printer is on it's way to USA now 😀
UPS had a Scheduled delivery date for Friday 26th but now it's "Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later." 😯

I guess the Departure scan does not mean Departure, what was I thinking that departure meant it was leaving. It means we are sending it to clearing agency review.

01/24/2018 9:26 A.M. The package is awaiting clearing agency review. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release.
Koeln, Germany 01/24/2018 6:00 A.M. Departure Scan

Still in clearing agency, hope it does not sit there for too long before someone looks at it and goes oh yea it's the same package as the other few thousands of packages that Prusa been sending out 😀

Yeah, I have no idea why this is happening. I should be the only one able to change permissions, and I didn't touch it.

Permission should be restored.

I wonder how many MK3's are being produced every day?

I’m also curious actually. I’m really interested in the speed of print farm numbers in general.

I tried looking at shipment dates and shipping numbers but got really inconsistent numbers.

Josef stated that they shipped 2000 before Christmas so that would imply about 4 weeks worth ( approximately Nov. 29 to the beginning of the holidays). That would make an extremely rough estimate to be about (2000/ 4x5 day weeks) 100/day. Of course at startup, production quantities vary and hopefully would increase so I would guess a bit higher now 😀 .

I think your best bet is going to be this blog post where Josef states they shipped nearly 2,000 before Christmas. According to the sheets we tracked 149 units shipped before Dec. 25th, so at least from there we had almost a 10% capture rate (7.45% if we assume they shipped exactly 2,000). This should give us a rough idea of both PR's actual production rate and our actual capture rate, though of course, they are still estimates at best.

If we assume we have a flat 10% capture rate, and they are producing ~9 units per day off the chart, we can estimate their average daily production is around 80~100 units. It would be exactly 86 if we had exactly 10% of all orders (with an even distribution) and 8.6 units are being shipped per day (including Assembled and Kit units). To be clear though, this is just a wild guess as we have no idea the true capture rate for any given day. It's totally possible (but very unlikely) we have >50% of some day's orders, but it's also possible we only have <5% of some day's orders. Because of this wide variance we can't estimate a more exact number.

If we assume we have the correct daily average (7.45% capture rate), and we've caught 587 orders, then we can assume there are 13.4x more orders than we've listed, and PR has a total order volume for MK3s of around 7900 units, which means at this point we're at about 4160 shipped out of 7900 units. Again, these are bold estimates made under the assumption we have exactly 7.45% of all orders, which is almost certainly not exactly correct.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

I wished the shipping table on the site would be updated again. Going by the dates it should be 4 weeks further already. And only when they update their list we know if anything happend or still on schedule.

And also bump 😛

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Do you mean the shipping table in the shop? I think they are right on track if compared to the gross of the orders tracked in our sheet.

I'd be much more interested in knowing, when the first people will receive the powder coated bed, must be any day now (personally I'd rather get the smooth one and a voucher for the powder coated ;))

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

That was indeed the list i was referring to. If they are indeed right on schedule, then thumbs up for the team. But since the shipping dates are following themselves so closely now and are getting even faster down the list we could use a official update. 😉

As for the PEI sheet, i thought i had heart it would be eind January / mid Februari. But don't know for sure.
As for mine, i would also like to get the smooth one and a voucher, but i don't think i will have that pleasure as by then the powder coated sheets should be the standard.

Well, you can see that the shipping is on time in the spreadsheet.

Also, initially I misread your post, and I saw that the actual ship dates in the sheet are 3-4 days earlier than what's in the order history page :OOOO

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

I really like this spreadsheet it make the wait for my Mk3 less boring. So thank you, the creator, but also the "fillers".
I would love it even more if Prusa can help us make it more precise.
