Self printed fan shroud wrapped after a few prints
Hello,
My original fan shroud was a bit bent after a problem with a clogged nozzle. No problem, I thought, prusa offers ORIGINAL PRUSA PRINTABLE PARTS. So I got the parts for my I3 MK3s and printed the fan shroud with the recommended settings (0.2 mm layer height, infill 20% GRID and material PETG.)
After three larger prints with PLA (~12 hours each), the fan shroud looks like this:
I have no idea what went wrong here. Could you give some advice, please?
RE: Self printed fan shroud wrapped after a few prints
The fan shrouds are printed out of ABS, not petg.
RE: Self printed fan shroud wrapped after a few prints
Yes, PETg cannot take a joke!
My original shroud started to droop after a long run of ABS prints and I took that as an opportunity to try out the new PC Blend. I printed a remixed shroud in the PC Blend and it has not started to droop since.

That explains it quite well 🙂
Thanks, nice that the solition is so simple.
Would it be possible to mention this on that page?

@the-grue
Theres a link on that page to an article on the forum here about printing the parts. That article does state that the fan shroud should be printed in ABS or Polycarbonate.
You should contact Prusa and ask them to add a note.
RE: Self printed fan shroud wrapped after a few prints
Ah, I see. I misunderstood that. I thought that article is only for the *upgrades*.
Thank you, I'll read that.

I agree, after reading this thread and viewing the page you posted, it does appear to be pushing PETG and it is unclear that you should follow the article.
