Second layer issues

First layer of PLA looks great but when it lays down the second layer starts to leave little bumps in the first layer. Seams like it may be picking up little pieces of the first laye. As the layers continue the nozzle starts to hit the layers.

please help

RE: Second layer issues

If I understand well? This is all happening on the second layer?
If so, you might think, the first layer is too thick.
- Check your settings. Nothing wrong with nozzle size? If not, print a test object, example test cube. So you are sure it is not something in the object to be printed.
Also check preview in Slicer to be sure no funny things are happening there.
- If nozzle is correctly chosen and settings are OK. It might be that you have to do first layer calibration again. You might set it higher, still will give a "higher" first layer. So second layer is just a bit higher.

We will do what we have always done. We will find hope in the impossible.

RE: Second layer issues

Thanks for the reply

I did the first layer calibration several times because I was having issues with the layer sticking. I lowered the z to get the layer looking good.

renewed and cleaned the smooth build plate really good and it finally laid down a really good first layer.

the issue was when it got to the second layer I think maybe the nozzle was hitting and creating little bumps.

as layers progressed it got to the point where the nozzle was rubbing the hole layer.

this was happening only on the infill not the perimeter

im new to this so it's frustrating

I printed the same item previously and it went perfectly 20 hour print

Recalibrated again and it works great with PLA.

When I switched to PETG to make the parts for the MK4 upgrade I'm waiting on I can't get them to print without balling up on the nozzle.

Using a .04 plated nozzle onto a textured sheet.

Any suggestions

Robert
