Replacing/Rebuilding Extruder

Hey! I have printed with my i3mk3s+ since before Covid. It has been a workhorse!

...I finally succumbed to the blob of death. I tried to get it off with a heat gun, but some of the extruder parts got a little too much, or when I was tugging on the blob, they hardened..."off" -- after removing the blob and changing the nozzle, it wouldn't print the same, wouldn't print level...etc.

I tried printing out the e-axis pieces (pretty much all of them. They all got blobbed) - and transferring everything over, but they were slightly different (the 7mm stainless steel ball cage and some other things (maybe the magnets?) weren't the same. One of the original magnets got stuck and broke when I tried to put it in the new (slightly different) piece.

Here is my question - I can apply funds towards this problem, but I don't have enough right now to justify a new printer. Does anyone have any ideas for any replacements/upgrades in 2025? I'm looking at the sad printer with parts dangling everywhere and I want to start fresh. Would love something I can just bolt in, but at this point, I just want the printer running again.

Any ideas?

Good Afternoon MrWampler

It might be useful to identify where in the world, you are located.

there may be someone who is prepared to Print replacement parts for you

Magnets are available from Prusa, but may be expensive due to courier costs.
Many printed parts are also available on the prusa website

Etsy is another option, for example
