R3 Extruder Parts Poll

Hi, I am actually wondering for those who had problems with PLA material having extruder jams during the printing process with R1 based parts. There's also an option for you to counter the problem of filament jamming inside the heatbreak area by changing the heatbreak into titanium alloy type. Reason being is that the heat transfer/creep quarter of the heatsink area and this will make the pla go soft on the cold end of the heatbreak area, expand and extruder couldn't push it further.

The idea of using Heatbreak is to reduce heat transfer/creep from heater block to the heatsink. R3 reduces the heat transfer from heater block to the heatsink, can be seen here https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f61/new-printed-parts-version-r3-b7-t23017-s70.html#p98563 .

But I wanted to know results of the improvements http://www.polljunkie.com/poll/fkmfbg/filament-jams

Results here http://www.polljunkie.com/poll/qzdjnj/filament-jams/view

I will print and fit this new parts regardless =D

Looking forward to the results 😀

Sounds like you might simply have a bad or not completely smooth heatbreak. You really shouldn't have any issues like this with your new MK3. You should definitely contact support through the chat and see what they recommend, or simply get a new heatbreak. The new parts are pretty well thought out. I have printed and installed them, but have not printed much yet for any real type of comparison. FWIW I don't think I have had any jams in my MK3, but there are a lot of variables such as filament, z-height, temperature etc. which can lead to problems. It could also be a poorly fitted, shaped, or loose PTFE sleeve. Good luck!

I am not sure actually about my heatbreak on my mk3, it is a stock and got it back in june. Printed fine with pla on my end which is a generic pla filament. It's just that I wanna hear what results people got after changing to R3 who had jams on R1 before.

What I changed to titanium heatbreak is on the custom machine, not on mk3 because most e3d v6 based owner had pla jamming issues, I myself had that on mk2 before.
