The stuff is.crap. prusa was making their parts out of it and switched to petg. Hence the blowout price on 2kg rolls. I'd steer clear

I don't know where he has his information from, but in my experience nGen has good print qualities. I don't think it's worth the high price that colorfabb is normal taking, but the 2 KG spool deal is very nice indeed.

Compared to normal PETG, nGen handles bridges a little bit better and overall the colors of colorfabb filament are very good. But overall, nGen prints very, very similar.

The price in the shop is great for 2kg spools. Unfortunately, I can't justify the cost to ship the US for it.

$27 in shipping for a $34 spool of filament 😮

Yes i have read the compasion table, but the aspect that leave my question was the Brittle on downsides where PETG don't have it, and while i want to use this on printer i like some strong parts as they are pushed by the screws and other parts.

Thats normal, outside EU will be always expensive and that is already cheap for something more than 2KG shipping to US.
For my country is just 8€ which is a good price 🙂

Yeah that's pretty nice 🙂 It cost $50 to ship my MK3 kit (someday...). I thought that was a pretty good deal. I couldn't handle the $25 for 2KG, though.

Yes thats normal, 50$ on a 800$ order is ok, but 25$ for a 25$ order is kinda bad.
But on US you have good alternatives and colorfabb itself

I must say, I love nGEN. It prints as easy as PLA with much better toughness. I have PETG as well, but didn't try printing it yet. From the feel of the Prusa parts, PETG is even tougher but not very stiff compared to nGEN. I assume PETG is comparable with XT (although again, from the feel of the Prusa parts I think XT is stiffer/harder). XT is more difficult to print than nGEN as it warps (a bit).
I think when you need 'strong' parts, you should consider what you're really after: stiffness (high Young's modulus), high yield stress or high resistance to break. The parts on the printer do not need to absorb high impacts, so I would say toughness is not the most important property. Except maybe for the parts that need to deflect a little (the bearing holders must expand a little to allow the bearings to fit in).
Stiffness is an interesting quality though, especially for the parts that hold the smooth rods and the bearings. I expect you will see a lower amplitude of vibrations traveling through the structure, and an increased Eigen frequency.
nGen also has a higher Tg, which is interesting for the extruder parts especially when you intend to use the printer in an enclosure.

I would be very interested to see the characteristics of an MK3 with nGEN parts.

I still have three partial rolls of NGEN. I wasn't impressed. I get better print quality from PETG. Major stringing and it's tough to get the layers to bond unless you get it hot enough that quality goes to pot. It seems stronger though when you do get the layers to bond, but brittle. It will just break rather than bend -- which just may be a good quality for some printer parts.

Nope- Prusa has posted on this forum and on Facebook several times nearly all the parts are made from Prusa PETG. The cooling fan duct is made from ABS. In fact, you can buy the same PETG that the MK3 is made from direct from the Prusa shop (when it is in stock). I ordered two rolls of the Prusa Orange months ago, and I can vouch that it is the identical color to the MK3 parts.

So did you eventually print any parts for the MK3S using NGen?

I have a roll of NGen in hand and I'm also contemplating printing some spare parts Using this Material. I still don't understand if it's some type of PETG or PLA or a totally different material, the high glass transition temp is intriguing so I was tempted to print all the Extruder Parts Except the fan shroud.
