You don't need cloud access for Bambu you can set it to local mode. You loose a couple of features like remote management but thats a given.

I have to admit Prusa support is excellent.  Though wouldn't it be nice not to need any support, like other appliances.  Once I had my MK3s+ built and up and running I never contacted Prusa again for support.  It's nice to know how responsive they are and I would pay gladly pay a premium for their support knowing they have my back.

"Why do you need so much support?? Is you Prusa failing all the time?". If you imagine that purchasing Bambu Labs printers is going to help you avoid needing support,  maybe you need to look at the Bambu users forum? Suggested topics include:

o Warped Bed, Heavily Warped Print Bed, and Warped Bed Situation
o New Firmware catastrophe, Last firmware broke connection
o Horrible support has finally reached me
o Support not responding

You can find all of these and more at:
https://forum.bambulab.com/

RE:

When i first got my mk3s i was really excited about the opensource and reprap approach of Prusa. That and the positive reviews for their customer service guided me towards Prusa. Through the years this "self upgradability " and modding was used to improve an already good printer, but not much. On the other hand mmu2s and its printed part approach was , for me, a headache. I relied on 3rd party mods for parts and forked prusaslicer to make it work, half the time. I preferred a solid solution that works. I hear AMS is that, but i dont own one  and i dont know. My new XL is not a reprap opensource approach and that is not bad IMHO, since it ticks all the boxes that make a true multi-material solution, without the "strict" conditions of mmu2 to work. It couldn't be opensource. Its complex with small tolerances. So the bottom line open source, again in my opinion, has a time limit as far as a company's future and a products improvement is concerned. For me there should be a balance. I dont mind not getting the S and + upgrades for a printer but i would mind if let say Prusaslicer was on a monthly subscription. I dont know the future of BL or Prusa or any company and whats going to happen with my printers in the future, but i thing that normally no one expects a product to be serviced for ever. With my MK3S i can  print plastic parts and buy motors and nozzles from 3rd party suppliers if needed but that means if those suppliers stop making them i end up with a nice paperweight. Also i think that most consumers change their printers to new faster and better ones before their machines die and parts become unavailable. And if you are company that makes profit is always a good practise to stock on spare parts in case you need them.

Personally im not using 3d printing for work rather than a hobby. But  print quite a lot with both Filament and sla printers. What i see is when the XL improves and becomes on par with what MK3S  is, in terms of reliability, i think my MK3 will gather dust. It was a reprap , "seld reparable", opensource, stable approach. It will come to a rest due to a newer faster and better model (when XL gets there) before its supportability from Prusa drops.

I think the P1S with the multi filament changer is about 1050 euros. The MK4 with enclosure and without filament changer is 1500 euros. So I am comparing the MK4 with the new competition and not older models. As others have pointed out there is of course the issues of reliability, support, running costs, etc and these are of course super important. If Prusa made a MK4 size corexy I would be happy to pay for it (withing certain bounds of course) because I am overall happy with my MK3S+ machines.

I don't purchase the Prusa enclosure. Costs way too much for me, and I don't see the value.

I purchase the Printed Solid "Next Gen Safety Enclosure for Prusa". I've got two MK3S+ sized ones, and one MINI sized one. Costs about $209 USD for the MK3S+/MK4 one, and $190 for the Prusa MINI one.

Nice enclosure.  I don’t know if it is stackable.  Prusa enclosure can be stacked 3-5 high.

The XL is a very reliable and fast printer as it is.  It is on par with print quality, reliability, and speed with any printer I own or have seen.  I own two BLs.

For me not yet. There are false crash alarms, known bug. There is still more stringing with petg that it should with 0.6 nozzles, and a couple of times the extruder started behaving a bit erratic - hitting the rails. TPU loading is PITA and generally some issues that i hope and believe they would be fixed in the future. All in all im a bit hesitant to live it unattented printing for long periods of time. Something that with MK3 is not an issue. MK3 is my point of reference of what to expect.

3 months of printing nearly around the clock and zero crashes or errors.  No stringing.  Perfect prints 99% of the time.  I have helped 3 others assemble and they have not had an issue either.

I consider my MK3S+ the gold standard. Prusa needs to have every product they release meet that same standard. I was very disappointed they promoted the MK4 with input shaping as an included feature before they released it. They have a reputation to fulfil and expectations to meet. If they can meet that level of quality then they deserve to charge a premium.

Isn’t that the truth.  I have had people lather on the praise for the Enders.  Mine was a constant struggle.  I heard praised for the Bambus.  They are good, but not a the miracle people talk about.  I have has first layer issues will all printers but my Mk4.

Personally i have only one "major" (ok not that major) issue with XL. And that is the false crash detection in high travel speeds. There are a couple of workarounds for it. Namely either disable it (obvious) or reduce the speed from 400 to let say 360 (but we want higher speeds not slower). The other issues are tolerable and i think they are there because of other variables. i.e. ambient temperature and humidity for stringing (mk3 works but its just one extruder and different design)  and maybe the occasional going off rails has to do with  the disabling of crash detection. Im also anxiously waiting for these last issues to be ironed out (especially the false crash) for Prusa to start working on the multiple nozzle profiles, a higher speed when using larger nozzles (maybe use something like a smaller volcano nozzle) etc.

Are these custom settings are you using the firmware and slicer settings from Prusa?  I have not tinkered much from the Input Shaper in PrusaSlicer.

RE: Prusa MK3S+ vs Bambu Lab X1 carbon

The crash detection disable is on the actual printer while the travel speed is on the Prusa slicer. The official response from an email from Prusa is that is a know issue and their looking into it. I think probably another solution would be to loosen up the belts but i dont want to go into that.
