Prusa! I beg you to change one small option that has been pissing me off for a year! :E
When you turn the selector clockwise, the menu option highlight goes down, and vice versa. This is so non-intuitive and annoying to me! Every time I use my Mk3s printer, I get the selector's direction wrong at first!
Please change this setting, or enter the user configurable selector behavior.
Thank you, Prusa!

You could check to see if a product revision request has been raised on the Prusa Git Hub page. However, I wonder if this "feature" is part of the original Marlin firmware rather than something done by the Prusa engineers.

+1 for this annoyance.

Like @david-j21 suggest, check the MK3/MK3s firmware issue page: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues
To see if similar issue is reported with the same request - if not, then create a new Feature Request.
Developers at Prusa will look here for reported issues, don't expect them to look in the forum. The forum is mostly for user to user support.

There was an issue for this opened in September 2018. It was closed with a reference to an issue opened against Prusaslicer. ???? This issue was closed. I didn't read through all 800+ items to see if there were more.

@kennd
Actually issue #1170 the one you linked to is still open. It was mentioned in another issue and THAT one was closed but the request to invert it in firmware is still open.

@neophyl
You are correct. I tthought the closed beside the last comment referred to the current issue,Still learning github.
You seem too know it well and how it works. Would it help get this annoyance fixed if everyone that agrees added their name to the issue in github?

I have a solution for you, no firmware change necessary. Rotate the knob 180°, so the marker is aiming right. Then everything is correct 🙂
Otherwise I can agree, I also have it opposite way and the highlighted text goes wrong way, but I think by changing it right now you will receive thousands of request not to change it, because everybody just got used to do it like this.

Elegant and effective.

I went through this moving from Windows to MacOS. Mouse scrolling seems like a simple thing until you run into someone who thinks it should be reversed.

I think any change made at this point would need to be a menu configuration option. As Milos states there are so many people who are used to it now that it would mess with a lot of people. The question is if there’s enough room in the increasingly limited program space of the board to implement what is basically a non critical function.
RE: Prusa! I beg you to change one small option that has been pissing me off for a year! :E
Depending on how much it annoys you, if you're willing to compile the firmware yourself the "fix" is a single line in the Marlin configuration .h files.
For the MK3/MK3S models, it seems unlikely at this point to be added as a menu option by Prusa themselves for both higher priority dev items, and storage space reasons.
And as others have already noted it seems unlikely that Prusa later inverts it by default as so many folks are used to the way it works now.

One man's mountain is another man's molehill. I doubt it's difficult or burdensome on hardware to make this a configuration option. If they're not going to go touchscreen anytime soon, this would be a welcome change even if it's just to please a few people.
All the cad softwares and google earth type scroll-zoom functions are different on every program. I hate jumping into a game, map or design program and every time I zoom I go the wrong way so the first thing I do is invert the scroll wheel (if it's wrong). If I'm used to it moving in a certain direction, it would really piss me off if I couldn't invert it. I'll sign your petition.

Believe me, I tried to contact them in 3 different ways. They don't respond to my suggestions. So this topic is my next attempt.
Of course this option, to change the direction of the dial, should be user-selectable. Some people want it to work as it is, others don't. The choice is the basis for a comfortable working environment. Adding such a selectable option is probably one line of code! It is only about selecting an option in the menu.
There is still the possibility of hardware modification, but this knob works differently depending on the function we are currently operating! So the problem can only be solved in the software.

@osfald16
Enough room for code in the firmware is a problem and dialogs (menus) for user setup is more that one line of code. If code limits wasn't an issue it should of cause be a configuration option. Took me a long time to get used to the reversed way Prusa decided for the rotary encoder - I still get it wrong from time to time.
Every change of the firmware must be carefully selected to get the most out of that little 8-bit processor.

RE: Prusa! I beg you to change one small option that has been pissing me off for a year! :E
Marlin has options to change the way the knob works but I've been looking through the Prusa source code on github and don't see the menu direction or encoder direction items anywhere. I wonder if all the direction code was removed to save space?
Been a couple of years since I programed a rotary encoder on an Arduino so can't remember if it's possible to change the direction by swapping the A and B leads. If so someone could do a ribbon cable hack. Might be an opportunity for a side business selling adapters...
RE: Prusa! I beg you to change one small option that has been pissing me off for a year! :E
If you are handy with electronics you can try swapping the two signal wires (A, B) of the rotary encoded. This should reverse the turning direction that the electronics sees.

I've gotten used to it, so hadn't really paid attention until recently. If you're adjusting settings (e.g. raising Z), clockwise rotation increases the value. When navigating menus, counter-clockwise moves up. It varies in different options. So while one can reverse it in hardware, it will still be inconsistent. Agreed it's annoying, if only from an OCD perspective. Not sure it's worth a lot of effort to fix.
