Prints suddenly failing

Hi there,

I've had my i3 MK3 a few weeks and have had most prints succeed, and a few fail, but I always managed to identify what the problem was so far.

Now for some reason my i3 has started failing just after the first layer with this weird, stringy, mess that obstructs the print. No idea what's going on. (image attached)

I'm still using the filament that was sent with the printer, and most of the time using Simplify3D with fairly bog-standard settings (0.1mm layer height, 210 degrees, high quality).

But even when I try to print boaty, a sample file that came with the SD card, that's now failing as well. Do I need to clean my nozzle or something? I've probably printed for around 100 hours at this point.

Any pointers as to things I could try would be much appreciated :).

Re: Prints suddenly failing

Have you cleaned the bed with Alcohol or Acetone? It looks like the first layer isnt stucking.

I had the same issue. You need to rough up the print bed with steel wool and then clean with acetone, then let it dry, then clean with 90 % isopropol alcohol. Mine started printing perfect after that.
