Printing failure after installing 0.6 nozzle
MK3S+ Firmware 3.14.1
Prusament PETG straight from the dryer.
0.6 Nozzle
Recently installed a 0.6 nozzle and appropriate configuration in Prusa Slicer. Since then, quality has been all over the place.
One of many first layer cal shown here:
Tried a multi square print that looked like this:
Tried a couple of functional prints that looked like this:
I've installed nozzles before by the book, including updating configurations and making the hardware changes, but never had it fail like this.
tl;dr: I can lay down a decent first layer, but I cannot print actual things after a nozzle change. There is no blobbing or leaking. It just seems, at least to me, not be laying down a good first layer on actual prints vs the calibration.
The built-in calibration routine is only intended for 0.4mm nozzles, you will need to calibrate the 0.6mm nozzle by observation.

Cheerio,
So, help me understand this better....even though I calibrated it and got a decent first layer cal using the internal routine, I need to do it manually for the 0.6 nozzle?
I kinda thought that's what I was doing with the 9 square test, which laid down ok for the most part except for the bottom middle square. I also tried a full sheet square that failed almost immediately.
Yes, the built-in routine assumes a 4mm nozzle and extrudes accordingly; this is under-extruding for a 6mm nozzle. Your 9 square is a better choice 'though it looks like you may have some fingerprints on the print sheet.

What diem said used to be true, but since firmware 3.13 the internal first layer calibration works with different nozzle diameters:
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!
Thanks for the correction, I've only used 0.4mm nozzles on the Mk3 in the last year and hadn't noticed...
So what I wrote above only applies if you haven't changed Settings -> HW setup -> Nozzle
Cheerio,
