Ugh - hate the short edit window. Meant to write "I do not use ABS myself".

Go Bobstro!!  It is good to be gangster! 🙂 🙂

Seriously, an occasional rinse will not harm it;  At least for a year and counting based upon my experience.

I use Windex on the PC sheet for PETG, to prevent too much sticking because that was the previous guidance.  It has not failed me and the prints self release without flexing upon cool down.   I do wash it off when switching to PLA and IPA...  Never tried ABS so cannot say.

I am trying to clean off small pieces fo ABS and PETG now.  I am printing a 100x300mmx5mm print to peel off the garbage.

All,

I want to thank you for the enlightening discussion.  I have held off using my PC sheets for a while since they stopped working well after doing just 1/3 of the Lack Enclosure for MMU prints (10+ batches for the Lack enclosure).  I am using the PEI sheets regularly.  I was really put off by not being able to get adhesion after only a few prints.  But I just got the sheets and did several prints, (no initial cleaning).  And they worked right out of the box.  I was using them and love the finish.  Both for PLA and PETG (I switched off for a while).  But mostly PETG.  It will now just not stick well.  Peels off before print is complete.

A Dawn wash/rinse/hot dry on the print bed it is.

Thanks again.  I will report back.

RAH

Ok.  My peal off print warped and failed.  I found that a plastic razor scraper took off the scraps.  Good to go.

I use my powder coated sheet since Mai 2018 and until now I had never a problem. Like in the handbook described I clean the sheet with Isopropyl alcohol for PLA and window cleaner for PETG.

I'm pretty sure that the guys from Prusa once wrote that if the ahesion is no longer good, you should wash the sheet with warm water, soap and a sponge.

RE: Powder coated sheet and soap water?

I just read this yesterday -- great info BTW -- and realized I had washed my plate and put it back on just a bit damp to dry.  Well I came to find this morning that the underside, against the heater, didn't have enough room for the water vapor to escape and stayed wet, corroding the plate under the PEI.

You live you learn, but thanks for the info or this could have been worse!
