Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet
I know this won't make you feel better, but I ordered in Italy in March, and had to wait until July for delivery, due to the delay on the powder sheets, however it did then arrive in July, with the sheet....
Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet
Calm down guys, while you are waiting to get delivery of your powder coated PEI, there are people who are visiting the shop everyday twice, hoping to hop on the long waiting list.
True words spoked.
All seems calm to me. 🙂
WolfgangSteinbach, can I ask what's meant by people visiting the store everyday twice to hop on a waiting list? What waiting list is that? Just to clarify, this thread is primarily aimed at discovering how many, if any, of those who purchased a MK3 at launch in 2017 (or soon after) have received their chosen 'voucher' yet allowing them the opportunity to try and purchase a Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet.
It would still be great to receive official updates from Prusa Research themselves about this situation, but it's really good that we can gather some unofficial feedback (that potentially affects hundreds of thousands of Prusa Research customers) and to learn that one of those customers has received a Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet.
One down! Only three hundred and sixty nine thousand, seven hundred and fifty three customers to go! 😆 😉
Hi, you can expect the official update about powder-coated sheets status during next week in the upcoming article at prusaprinters.org. We have already shipped over 10,000 pcs of these sheets, but the production process is very complicated as we wrote in our previous articles/updates. A new batch of sheets is in production this week with the different process with different silk screen method, hopefully increasing the yield and simplifying the cooperations. Disclaimer, this is not a promise that more will ship right next week.
Right now, we have sent all vouchers for free smooth PEI sheets and for 30 USD discount and we are still waiting with powder-coated sheets vouchers (except the first batch of early MK3 orders which were already sent at the beginning of December 2018). Everyone from early orders who had the printer order on hold waiting for TXT got their free sheet. If you didn’t and there was a mistake, contact support.

My MK3 was ordered on the 25th Sept 2016, but as I already had a MK2 on order, I was told to cancel it and wait for the upgrade option.. So my MK3 was formally ordered on 31st Oct 2016, but in truth, I was actually one of the first ordering 5 weeks before this, so its easy to see why I am a little aggrieved by this situation.. With hindsight, I wish I had trusted my instinct and kept the MK3 order from the 25th Sept, but then cancelled my MK2, but this is water under the bridge now.
I still don't have my sheet, but more worrying, I havn't had a mail, so have never formally made my selection. (And I obviously want the Powder Coated sheet after waiting this long).
I have already informed "support" of my selection, but I don't have a warm feeling about this....

Thanks for checking.. I appreciate it.. Consider myself re-assured 🙂
As I said, I am not overly worried.. I am 90% (I can't say I am 100% convinced as I am not) sure I will get it one day.. And can currently print perfectly, so it will be a nice 'upgrade' when it comes... And every day is one day closer to when it will arrive....

Sounds great blixa. I'm sure there are a vast number of faithful customers looking forward to being updated on how much longer this process is expected to take. 😎
Unfortunately, given the information being shared - and contrary to your report - it seems that there are still early adopters that have not received the voucher for a Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet that they selected in back in December 2018.
Given that Josef Prusa stated in the 2018 Summer Update there were over 90,000 printers in the wild there must be close to 100,000 by now? Assuming that's correct and just a quarter of these machines are MK3's owned by people who requested the Powder Coated Steel Sheet it suggests there is still almost a half year waiting list if you have managed to ship just 10,000 in approximately two months.
Or are you suggesting that Prusa Research have shipped 10,000 Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheets IN TOTAL (sheets supplied with printers, purchased separately and fulfilled in response to vouchers)?! If that's the case the waiting list could be years for thousands of people.
Many thanks for the top-notch customer support. 😀
Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet
December 2018.
I think you meant early adopters from December 2017 :p
It’s getting hard to keep track of the years at this point.

No.. I think 2018 is correct in this context.. The comment referred to the email taht was sent out in Dec (18) asking which option you wanted to take...

So, no hope for the PCPSS to come back to the shop any time soon. right?

All the evidence is pointing to: No
Prusa are concentrating on fulfilment of promised Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheets to all relevant early adopters of its MK3 (many thousands of customers), so it'd suggest that the standard shop will be the last portal to offer stock of the Powder Coated sheets to new buyers (if ever).
Hopefully we'll get confirmation complete with useful figures detailing Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet fulfilment levels across all channels (voucher supply/new MK3 printers/spare parts store) during the upcoming Prusa update (mentioned earlier in this thread by blixa).
Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet
I think we have all been patiently waiting an update. A winter update is due / overdue.

The PC sheet has never been available in the shop, only ever supplied with new printers briefly. I doubt it will ever be for sale but hope to be proved wrong.
Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet
There is a huge market. Heck, they are selling on eBay for $200-250 US,. That is huge demand if someone is willing to pay that amount and this is the 5th one to be sold if it sells.
The PEI sheets are also premium and they are 29.99 from prusa. On ebay, $30-$55. This is the 2nd one I have seen.

I’ve only seen one sell for more than $200. I’d be interested to see if this one sells or gets a bid. To me, paying that much is insane. I’d rather put the money towards another printer.

I think the PEI stickered example illustrates the eBay mindset more than any Prusa shortcoming. The double-sided PEI stickered sheets aren't hard to get. While shipping is high, getting into a bidding war over one is silly. I don't think items being sold on eBay really illustrates anything more than humans will stampede with the herd of they think they're missing out on something.
As frustrating as all this is, I commend Prusa for sticking to their original pricing and not giving in to the temptation of peddling them on eBay as "Mint NIB collectible". The situation sucks for all concerned, but they seem to be making an earnest effort at an equitable suction.

I agree, I do thing there is a market for the powder coated sheets. Since there is a quality control issue, I wonder why Prusa or the manufacturer has not offered them for sale. They would probably sell.

I have thought exactly the same thing.. If there are minor flaws, I would still buy one.. I never do a print across the whole bed, so I would be more than happy to have one with damaged areas and would just use parts of the sheet that was good.
Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet
I think this would compound the problem. Now Prusa would have to track sheets with and without warranty. They may dump the rejects on the gray market and let 3rd parties deal witj the problems, but I suspect JP doesn't want his name on anything going out the door with obvious production quality problems.

I am surprised the AliExpress cloners haven't managed to produce a textured sheet. The process must be involved for them to pass on it.
I keep hoping someone will come out with a new technique that renders all of this moot.

Genuine question, are you guys not familiar with the $50 after market powder coated PEI sheet available on eBay and Amazon? It actually works really well and the prints look awesome.
