PETG filament: List of good brands for US customers and brands to avoid?

I print almost exclusively with PETG.  I live in the US.  I have had very good results with Prusament PETG, but shipping to the US is a little over $6.00 for each 1 kg spool.  Hatchbox PETG has worked very well for me, but Hatchbox is currently "temporarily" closed for business.  I've tried SUNLU PETG (on Amazon), but the prints are not as consistent as with Prusament or Hatchbox.  I have read positive reviews about eSun (also on Amazon), but I have yet to try it.

Considering that Prusament shipping costs to the US are pretty high and Hatchbox is not currently an option, what are other good brands of PETG filament available for US customers, and what brands are best avoided?

If you're anywhere a Microcenter, Inland filament works well. They are also starting online ordering again. I've had good luck with eSun and Overture off Amazon. The recent version of AmazonBasics is very loosely spooled and I avoid it. Most of the well known names produce good filament. Just avoid the no-name bargain types. The only real bad spools I've ordered were from a local manufacturer and the stuff was barely 1.6mm in diameter.

I live in Charlotte, NC.  No Microcenter near me.  I placed an order for a spool of Inland PETG based on your recommendation.  $20.99/1kg spool.  No shipping charge.  No sales tax.  I hope it works well.

You mentioned, "...Most of the well known names produce good filament...".  That's why I started this thread.  I don't know this early in the game what is well known and what is not.

I don't mind paying fair market value for good quality PETG filament.  As far as I can tell, Prusament PETG seems to be the gold standard for quality and consistency, but $6.00 shipping per spool gives me pause.  I am not looking to compromising quality.  But if there is a PETG filament of similar (or better) quality than Prusament at a more a reasonable cost, I would like to know what it is.

@parallax

I have used a lot of eSun and it is good except for the white which consistently is poorly wound and will tangle. I assume it is a different production line.

The eSun refills are excellent but you need an old eSun spool to use for the refill - they do not use the 'master spool' standard.

The best USA PETG filament for me has been Filament One, but they have been out of stock for months.

I just looked into FilamentOne.  Made in USA so what the heck?  I ordered a PETG spool.  $32.89 for a 1kg spool.  No sales tax for NC.  Free shipping.  However, at that $32.89 price, it closely approaches Prusament PETG price.

The only PETg filaments I've used are the Prusament and Reprapper.  Good luck with both of them.

Atomic filaments are also quite good.  Same price as Filamentone, so a wash there.  A wide variety of colors, too.

I use their CF-PETG for my printer parts.  Mechanically, not as strong as PETG (in theory), but prints so nicely.

I prefer Hatchbox but their supply chain is iffy at best.  eSun is my fallback choice which I find to be more stringy than Hatchbox. The price of eSun is also pretty good so it is an easy choice for me to live with.

Both Duramic3D and Overture filaments print equally well on my MK3S . I print them both with extruder at 240 first layer and 25o for rest with bed at 85 first layer and 90 for others. I use glue stick to promote smooth bed adhession and nothing but a good cleaning with dish-soap and water for textured. Happy printing!

Another vote for Atomic.  Fast free shipping directly from the mgf.

Atomic has been good, but they have been out of stock on almost everything for quite awhile. I've found Push Plastic to be very good, huge variety, most things available, and quick shipping.  I don't know what they do differently but their PETG is the strongest I've so so far.

Because of the suggestions made here I bought some Atomic black PETG about 10 days ago and I like it!

I also tried some Sunlu - I like the reload spools and the filament but it has a strong odor which I have not noticed with other PETG brands.

I would recommend:

  1. Polymaker Polylite PETG
  2. Paramount PETG
  3. Overture PETG
  4. Duramic PETG

Those 4 will get you started!

Hatchbox, Polymaker Polylite PETG, Overture PETG, Duramic PETG are good options to choose from. You can also have a look at some other brands Filament like Paramount PETG,  SUNLU PETG Filament, etc.

Hi,

I find Inland and MatterHackers to offer good PETG.

Inland offers a good filament at a good price point, but I find them slow to ship. My orders from Inland take almost 2 weeks to arrive.

MatterHackers offers MH Build PETG that I think is very slightly better than Inland and shipping is very fast. I get my orders in a week. MatterHackers also offers their Pro series filaments that are very good, but with a price to match the quality.

I've also had excellent results with Zyltech filaments in both PETG and PLA.

I've had consistently good results with Eryone PET-G.

(On the other hand I DON'T like their PL.)
