Original Mk3 Laser filament sensor failure
Hello,
I started getting random pauses during printing that created pits on my outer layers.
I suspected it’s the filament sensor so I disabled it and that fixed the issue. Now, I am trying to replace the filament sensor however I couldn’t find a replacement part. On the Prusa webpage, I found this sensor upgrade however it says it’s not compatible with Mk3

Any recommendations for a sensor replacement?
Thank you

Not something you really want to replace. It's turned off by default these days because it never worked quite as well as one hoped. They switched sensors later. You can try cleaning it. But otherwise leave it off until you feel like doing the upgrade.

Thanks for the reply.
It’s definitely useful and it worked in the past specially when the filament runs out.
I ended up buying a replacement from China until I am ready for the upgrade.

Could you share the link? I'm also looking for it since mine died over a year ago

I installed the replacement and I still get intermittent print pauses. I recommend you do the upgrade to there latest optical sensor.
It’s working flawlessly so far on my Mk3s.
If you still want to buy the old replacement here is the ebay link
