Nothing broken, hope you all had a good 3d printing weekend

I had a good 3d weekend, and I hope you all have had the same.  Even if you're still troubleshooting those first layer issues, or globbing your way through learning to print with PETG, I do hope you all take a  moment to relax, and enjoy this fine weekend.  My weather was nothing to worry about, but it was too windy to go fishing.  So that means I got to do chores and catch up on some new fishing spoons that I'm preparing for my etsy shop (browndogfishing) next week.  Thanks to the folks here, I am now a windex believer - and I know to watch that first layer for the perfect live Z setting for the thing I am printing at the moment.

This weekend it was spoons.  Process goes print the blanks, then break them out of the supports and start filing them to get the edges into a nice willow-leaf shape.  Then comes contouring (more file work) to get the edges to feather in a way that they'll flip and spin actively in the water.  Then sanding and smoothing the edges so there are no sharp edges to blow in the wind and catch your cheek on that windy day that you probably shouldn't have launched the boat in.  Then comes stickers - glow tape for the back, and eyes and such for the fronts.  Then three m ore coats of clear on both sides, before finally baking dry in a warm space near the furnace.

With a sigh of relief - my old man hands are feeling the strain - I look around and say wow.  now the hard part starts.  Pictures to upload, listings to create, and hopefully, if I am lucky, someone will realize that I sell premium fishing lures at a paupers price, and help me pay for some of this filament I've been using to build out inventory.

So it's not a post about 3d printing.  I don't have a broken print I need help with (I often do).  I am just grateful to be here, be able to learn about this pretty cool machine, and do my part to feed the dreams of fellow anglers.  And 3D printing enthusiasts.

Happy weekend everyone

Finger crossed for this upcoming weekend.  I need to repair a couple and add a Bondtech to one.  Wish me good luck!

@cwbullet

Good luck.  I've been preparing for a lower end upgrade - might take it on this weekend if it is rainy.  Bed bearing holders, Y motor upgrade, Y motor mount upgrade.  If it's not rainy, I'm going fishing 😉

I've been putting off doing linear bearing replacements. I really don't enjoy working on these things.

Another weekend has arrived 😀.

I've just got some Taulman Bridge Nylon to replace a broken bushing in a patio door lock, the bushing is small so I've ordered a 10m sample to start, doesn't allow a lot of testing/tweaking though.  Far better than sanding base boards.

I can't believe how printing seems to have taken over my life!  Beyond hobby items I'm always thinking of useful things I can print.  I do property maintenance and its handy for all sorts, from light shade reducing rings to an improved guide for my tile cutter.

This weekend there is a small craft advisory in northern puget sound where I was hoping to go fishing.  So, something to do - redesign my smooth spooler pattern to be compatible with prusa spool holder mounts and arms.  No changes to the roller mechanism - working on the low profile arms that let me run my MK3s with that felt-clutch-for-backlash-protection roller design in a 2foot by 2foot by 2foot enclosure.  The first design (up on the print library) was custom all around - so this one I want to try and print without supports, print faster, and be compa.tible with prusa spool holder arms and bayonet receptacle.  That way someone could use the roller design with felt clutch on the stock prusa arm without having to print a whole new arm-set for holding two spools.  I'm trying a circular break-away truss to save on hours of support printing - and that's printing now.  It's the only part that would need support - but if it fails, I'll redesign it as two snap-together parts.
