Not adhering and PrusaSlicer. Am new to all this.
Hi,
I bought a used Prusa. I calibrated it - all good.
When I use PrusaSlicer for a simple object all is well until I the SD card is read by the printer. Incorrect printer and incorrect nozzle. When I tried today using Cura Slicer it says all is well and prints. Have checked the settings and all seems okay.
When printing through Cura, it starts printing but it doesn't adhere and is a blob around the nozzle. I've wiped it down with alcohol swab. No change.
So having some troubles.
Thanks for any help,
Tara
RE: Not adhering and PrusaSlicer. Am new to all this.
Hi Tara. Prusa slicer tells the printer which model of printer you think you are sliding the model dor, and what the latest firmware version is and what nozzle size the model was sliced for...
Cura... Does not perform these checks.
The printer model is not usually too much of an issue. Can you take pictures of the right hand side of the extruder assembly, and the left hand side of the X axis and include them with your next post please. In the meantime time. You should be able to click past that message.
Look in the printer menu. There should be a setting for the nozzle size. See what it is set to ...
Normal size is 0.4mm
If the previous owner was sat printing miniature figures. They may have been using a 0.25mm nozzle.
If they were printing tools or functional items they may be using a larger nozzle. Maybe 0.6mm or 0.8 mm
If this is the case. Re slice your model after setting the new nozzle size. .
This should prepare the gcode more favourably..
If your printer has a removable build plate you can take it off,and wash the print surface with hot water and dish soap. Using a new dish sponge. Then rinse well with plain hot water and dry immediately with plain paper towels. Both sides. Then heat on the printer, immediately. . Try and handle the build plate by the sides. And try not to touch the build surface
Good luck, Joan

Are you certain you downloaded the correct firmware? Are you slicing for the correct printer? The Mk3S+, Mk3S & Mk3 are subtly different.
it doesn't adhere and is a blob around the nozzle.
It's hard second guessing the history of a used machine. To deal with the blob search for 'Blob of Doom' on these forums to see how others have dealt with them.
Poor adhesion might have several causes - thoroughly clean the print sheet with dishwashing detergent (Dawn/Fairy) and HOT water.
Then run the built-in first layer calibration routine - if you are unsure show us the result *on the print sheet* and we'll probably be able to help.
Cheerio,
RE: Not adhering and PrusaSlicer. Am new to all this.
How do I know which firmware has been applied?
Did a first line test. A big squiggle. Now says nozzle clogged.
thanks, Tara

Hi Tara,
If the X axis Motor bracket looks like this
Then you have a Mk3S printer
If the X axis Motor bracket, looks like this
Then you have a Mk3S+
