new firmware "heads up" blocking prints?

Hey people, new here on the forums, hi all.

On my prusa MK3S sometimes new firmware warnings come up, and that's OK, if you don't have time for that just press the button and go. My printers are in the lab, I have to go with the laptop to do that, so I'm not always up to date. You know, sometimes you just need the print.

However, today I went to launch a print, the head wasn't hot yet, so I just launched it and went my way. Came back after two hours expecting the print to be finished, just to discover that it was stuck on the firmware warning and of course no print. It must have beeped loudly, but it did it only after the head was hot, and I didn't hear it. That was annoying, and it's not even the right way to put it.

Could it be possible, maybe, setting a timeout on that warning so it goes away and starts printing after it has been ignored for a time? Reasonable time being like 30 seconds, or less.

Thanks a lot for the attention guys

Take care 🙂

Remove this line from you Printer - Custom Gcode - Startup Gcode:

M115 U3.7.2 ; tell printer latest fw version

You can delete the line or just place a semicolon in front

; M115 U3.7.2 ; tell printer latest fw version

Then save a new printer profile:

Once you've saved it - load it up, then exit P.Slicer and the new profile becomes the default.

Hi @freeant

release Firmware 3.8.0-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3 should solve this as well. You will get warning be but the print will not be stopped 😀

Firmware onscreen notification
The firmware onscreen notification about the availability of the new version no longer waits for the user response, which prevents the print from starting. The timeout is now set to 30 seconds, the printer then proceeds with the print.

even an old man can learn new things 🙂
Standard I3 mk3s, MMU2S, Prusa Enclosure, Fusion 360, PrusaSlicer, Windows 10

WEEEEEE that's the coder's approach, and I like it! You get the (useful) info, but you're not stuck. Good job!

Thanks lots zoltan 🙂
