MK3 vs MK3s difference?

What is the different?

It looks like I need to buy parts to fix a clog in my MK3, and I might just upgrade to the MK3s. I'm trying to figure out what the difference is. I notice the MK3 and MK3s has different hotends, and I already have the fan change.

RE: MK3 vs MK3s difference?

There are several minor revisions to printed parts all over.  Belt tensioning methods, motor mounts etc.   The hotend is the same though, still a E3d V6.  Fans change colour but are still functionally the same.  The fan shroud design changed as well as the mounting method for it too.

From a technical standpoint the only major difference between a MK3 and a MK3S is the type of filament sensor used.  That is why the firmware is different between the models.  The MK3 uses the indirect sensor and the S uses a lever/beam break IR sensor set up with some magnetic assist.  That of course makes the printed parts of the Extruder different , to accommodate the different hardware.

Yes. You can upgrade from MK3 to MK3s+ with this upgrade kit.

But you will still need the parts fix your clog. But keep an eye on what you need as there are some differences. AFAIK only to the PTFE tube in the hotend. And the PTFE tube come with the upgrade kit. All metal parts of the hotend are the same as are the thermistor and heater cartridge.

This is the upgrade manual. Have a look at that to see what you will have to do to upgrade. It looks like lots of work, but if you are taking the extruder apart already to fix that clog, you are doing most of it already.
