MK3 replacment fan shroud

So my fan shroud broke off and I cant seem to see a replacement in the store.

I'm assuming I cant print a replacement out of PLA?

You can print a very temporary one using pla to print a better replacement but it will not handle the heat. The fan shrouds are normally printed out of abs or asa. Other high temp materials like pc or nylon can also be used.

Bad idea—unless you love to see your shroud melt. It should be printed from ASA, ABS, PC, PC-CF etc., some high temperature filament.

Maybe there's someone in your area who can print you one.

I've ordered one off etsy for the time being I was going to buy a roll of filament to print of a spare in the future just in case.

ASA is probably going to be my best bet I think since I have the original smooth PEI sheet.

I have my printer in my shed and have never printed with anything other than PLA, if I left the shed door open and opened a winder should it be sufficiently ventilated to be in there while its printing or should I wait till it is done?

ASA is sensitive to draft, not as much as ABS but still, and I print it in an enclosure. I'm probably going to be lynched by the more health-focused people around here, but printing a tiny shroud with ASA in your room is not going to kill you. Its smell is much less offensive than ABS.

I mean I dont need to be in the room I mostly just wanna make sure it airs out by the time I go back out to it, hell if I was really paranoid I could clean the bed and trigger it remotely with my print server

I printed a remixed shroud with PC Blend and installed it during some down time, soon after the original began to droop.  The new one has not drooped at all.

I highly recommend replacing it with this one designed using computer aided fluid dynamics.

It is a significant improvement over the Prusa shroud for part cooling.

I printed it in Prusament PC Blend and has been running without issue for over 2 years of solid printing of PETG and PC Blend.

I like that one.  Very unusual design.

I downloaded it.  I will print one in PC Blend and try it the next time I take the machine down for anything.

To be fair, you haven't specified whether you have an MK3, MK3S or MK3S+.

Here is the one for the MK3S.

It took 20 secs to find in the Prusa shop.

The title of this post literally says MK3...and that one is also incompatible with it

OK.

You'll just have to download and print the parts yourself or find someone to print them for you.

Here is the RHD CS one for the MK3

RE: MK3 replacment fan shroud

I printed the new high-tech fan shroud in Prusament PC Blend this morning.

I'm actually impressed with the design, particularly in the fact that the support bracket actually needs no support and does not droop with a fairly significant overhang.  I was actually planning on having to reprint it on the other printer using soluble supports, but it came out fine.

Now to find the down time to install it and run some test prints.

(Photo is not the best, I admit.)
