Thank you for your kind, clear and thorough explanation.

What puzzled me was that several other prints with lower heights came without a noticeable seam.

The printer is great and I got worried when I found the spool all tangled and the filament cut due to tension.

I assume you've got it working then? I'm happy if you've got everything sorted. That's a great project. Please post pics when you're done.

You might also want to check out Cura. It has some great options for mitigating seams and other printing artifacts. Slic3r is better for Prusa-specific tuning, but once you've got everything "close", you can copy the settings into Cura for tweaking.

Also, if you can't be in the room, try to listen as things print. I've gotten to the point where I can hear a problem starting. A webcam to view from your phone is a good idea too.

The printer Prusa MK3 is great.

I am coming from Simplify3D before buying the Prusa.

With the Prusa MK3 I have used only Slicer, but I had been always interested on Cura for some specific settings I needed for a project I could not do with my old printer.

Probably now is the chance to finally try Cura; I have read a lot of positive feedback on settings versatility that other slicers lack.

In Cura, look at the Z Seam Alignment and Seam Corner Preference under Shell settings. Those will help you adjust where the seam occurs, and hide it if there is anyplace to do so. Also look at the Coasting options under Experimental. These will let you adjust the time before the end of each layer line that the extruder backs off, hopefully closing up those little gaps, or avoiding excessive build-up of they overlap (the "zits"). I'm sure there are other settings that may help. Cura seems very focused on finish.
