Maximum Print Time

Hi All,

I just got a Prusa i3 MK3S and I am currently printing a larger part that could take up to 20 hrs. Is there a maximum print time or a feature for the printer to take a break after a certain amount of time? I am mainly concerned for the computer chip. There is ventilation on the casing but no fan and I'm concerned that the processor may overheat. After a quick search I am unable to find a maximum print time or duty cycle of the printer. Does anyone have any experience printing this long, or know what issues I may run into?

Thanks,

Brendon

RE: Maximum Print Time

The processor will be fine. If you're not enclosing the printer in an airtight or heated enclosure, there will be no problem, and if there were somehow a problem it would show up well before 20 hours.

Prusa even wrote a little note about it: "The RAMBo board is designed and built to sustain a considerable heat. It does not need any cooling even if the printer is in an enclosure." — https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/einsy-rambo-electronics-wiring-mk3-mk3s_2107

RE: Maximum Print Time

I have run through  4 days of almost constant printing (16hr prints one after another) and mine is in a lack enclosure with the PSU outside/CPU inside.  It was only PLA though so it was only around 30C in there.
