Re: Many new printed parts on GitHub

Looking like the new parts are going to require some new screws as well?

And there will be an update to assembly instructions due to the big difference in some parts.

Looks like my pre-assembled MK3 (delivered a little over a week ago) already has the new X-Z joiners (idler-side and motor-side). My X belt definitely still wobbles, but it doesn't squeak and doesn't seem to rub anywhere.

Re: Many new printed parts on GitHub

Printed the new carriage in the makergeeks crystal petg, doesn't have that great orange pop like the Prusa factory stuff but closest I had to orange in petg.

The idler and stepper ends are printing now.

I am very NOT looking forward to undoing all those cables going through the x backplate, but the belt is already fraying and leaving crap everywhere so even without a reprint I need to try and adjust it better. One of my z-top brackets seems a little off too, so will just print them while I'm at it and see if its the frame holes or I just got a slightly crooked part.

Will the new design of the carriage mean you have to shorten the belt as it no longer does a 180.

Re: Many new printed parts on GitHub

Oh wow, just noticed on the printed x stepper mount 2 of the 3 screws holes are slotted for adjustment, and there is an adjustment screw/captive nut now to help tension it! Missed that when looking at the stl online.

Since I have to take so much apart figured will just print everything thats changed besides the lcd case and "black required" extruder parts.

The parts have a lot of internal reinforcement, hoping the 15% infill is good enough otherwise with .3 layer height in S3D.

When do we expect these new parts to be part of new units by?

You can easily check the differences between versions on github. Changes will be highlited on the wireframe of the selected part in Green and Red.

i don't see any red or green in the wireframe of this for example:

From what I can see, they haven't' correctly the misalignment on the Z-Axis between the rods and threaded shafts, as documented by RHDreambox.

Does this mean they don't accept his findings? Or don't think it warrants a change?

I just upgraded to this over the weekend and couldnt be happier! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2786603
You can easily adjust the tension without touching the motor and the belt now runs parallel without it rubbing, squeaking or twisting. I had lots of black powder when I swapped it over and the belt was showing signs of wear on the sides. I also swapped my Y-Axis over to RHDreambox version with the 16 bore pulley and that runs much better now also

Good question! I tried it with https://www.filament-pm.cz - these guys make the filament that Prusa SELLS - I am not sure that this is the exact material that they use in production.
Idea: Have you seen the latest Prusa Factory Tour Video? Maybe one could capture a frame that shows the big spools to get a peak at the label to make out the manufacturer:-)

Guys, the manual has been updated for the new parts!

I had asked on chat the other day about purchasing the orange PTEG filament that is used on the in house parts. I was told that it isn't yet available for purchase, but that it would be soon. Since in the tour video they show it in 2kg spools, I am assuming that it is specially made for Prusa. I was told from a member on Thingiverse that that the orange is RAL2005 in color, if you are able to find something similar.

Thanks man for that information 😉 PR Orange PETG is made by https://www.filament-pm.com , but they have not PR orange in eshop yet.

BTW, It will be nice to have small upgrade packages from PR. For example a new textile sleve, new printed parts or some meters of PR orange filament just for the parts and the printing profile as well. Maybe someday, when the thunderstorm of orders will be fulfillment. 😎

Re: Many new printed parts on GitHub

Just join the dark side and print the upgrades in black. I will only have two orange parts left when I get more m3 screws Wednesday, looks so much more sophisticated. 🙂
