Keeps crashing on Y

My printer keeps crashing on Y. I’ve printed lots of these parts before with no issues. Today I have tossed out 4 so far and this last one is doing the same thing. It will run for a few minutes, crash, home and start again. Then every 2 nd or 3 rd it will crash go home and give me the Resume Printing - Yes or No. if I hit yes it will take a few minutes, reheat and continue. Only to crash again. Latest firmware, nozzle is fairly new. I can’t babysit the printer all day. Anyone have any idea? Belt tests are 261 on X and 259 on Y. Thanks

This might "only" be an adhesion issue. Are the parts detached from the print bed when you find the failed prind?

No, the parts stay attached. I printed this part last week with no issues. No changes to anything bar renaming the file, but this week I’m 0 for 4. Thanks

It is remarkable that you only experience crashes on the y-axis. Did you check the grub screws on the y-motor pulley. Both tight an the one against the flat part of the shaft? Is there anything that could possibly block the free movement of the bed? Any cables, or other stuff?

Also check that plate it exactly placed. It can happen (as I know 😉 ) that it scrapes the vertical mount and ...

We will do what we have always done. We will find hope in the impossible.

RE: Keeps crashing on Y

Well I just came into the forum to create the same post!

With mine it is this part, from an MMU buffer.  It simply will not print it always fails with a Y collision.  I've tried it in multiple materials.  I've upped the bed leveling checks.  I've tried printing it in different orientations, but I simply cannot print it, which is frustrating and very unusual.  Of course I can turn off the collision detection but something is going wrong to cause this.  I have printed other parts that are actually more layers like than this, but they printed fine.  I have no idea how this is colliding or why.  Is there a possibility that a newer profile has changed something if more than just me is having the issue?

All, I checked everything and all seems fine. I’m going to re-calibrate and see what happens. Thanks

I discovered that the PINDA probe screw had loosened up and the probe was quite loose. I set that and recalibrated, ran first layer test and got it back up and running. It ran fine on the same print job for about 15 minutes and then gave me a crash, homed, but continued printing. However, the quality of the print was way better so I let it run. After the 13th crash, home, continue I turned off crash detection and it ran to completion. I’m not sure if this is the best way to run the printer, but it sure beats babysitting it. I took a look at the All crash report and the Y has 999. I’m guessing that’s as high as the counter goes so clearly I have an issue or several. If anyone has any ideas I’m all ears. Cheers, Alan

RE: Keeps crashing on Y

Are your prints warping? could the Pinda or Nozzle  be bumping into the print?
Have you lubricated the Y axis bearings?
Can you move the Y axis by hand whilst the printer is at rest? If so are there any points at which the mechanism tightens up?
Is your Y axis cable bundle catching on the frame?
is your X axis cable bundle catching on the Y Axis cable bundle as the axis  move?
Could your Y Axis belt be too tight?

Not sure about OP but I have checked all those things.  The really weird thing is on other prints this does not seem to happen.  I've tried different layer sizes too in case it was that.  Going to print it now with crash detection off and see what happens.  The quality of that might give me a further clue to what is happening.
