Hi,

I just finished assembling the mk3 full upgrade, calibrated through wizard and printed a 3dbenchy. I got few question though since this is my very first time i lay my hands on mk3 that I may think kind of abnormal compared to normal printers.

1. I am unable to do temp calibration on "calibration>temp calibration" and it says ambient temp range suitable is only 21-28'c. But my ambient is 30-35'c. Is it ok not to have this calibration, any impacts whatsoever?
2. While printing benchy, the fan at 127 or 50% and it produces ringing sound, but gone when at full speed. Is that the pwm signal working its magic?
3. During printing the benchy as well which is the first item to be printed for testing, I had a staggering amount of crash detection, a total of 41 crashes. I also monitored most of the print job, there are some areas where the crash detection kicks in right after it starts to continue again. All of the crashes were on y-axis, I think this quite abnormal for such a high rate. Printed at stock 0.2mm setting provided in 1.39.0. Any advice on this?
4. I trimmed the 3mm nylon filament up about 3-4cm just to follow the instruction's picture, initial test of extruder movement seems fine, cable looked as if they were stretched but there's a bit of slack, is this ok?

are you running the latest firmware... if not it's probably a good idea to update, as this may address your issues anyway,

1, I have never done the Temp Calibration, do one thing at a time and see what the results are, so either leave the temp calibration until someone more experienced responds, or try the temp calibration first, and if the results are undesirable, use the factory reset to erase the settings.
2, it is likely that this is the PWM, as you suggest... I am too old to hear this noise, it's quieter than my tinnitus!
3, crash detections result from the Trinamic Motor drivers, recognising an unexpected power requirement from the stepper motor. this could result from the extruder bumping into something, or perhaps there is a little too much friction in the motion of the axis...
for the Y axis, it is possible that the U bolts may be a little too tight, restricting the proper action of the linear bearings.
or it could be due friction in the bearings themselves (Try oiling the smooth rails with light machine oil (sowing machine oil, bicycle oil)
or it could be a faulty linear bearing, or bearings, or it could be that the Drive Belt is too tight, or that the Idler bearing may be defective

I would start off by undoing the drive belt idler mounting screw, to loosen the belt. flick the belt off the motor gear
and try moving the platform back and forth by hand, there should not be a lot of resistance... and the resistance should be smooth not jerky,

oil the smooth shafts, and manually move the carriage again, see if the situation improves.

hopefully this will resolve the issue, if not try loosening the u bolts a little, and see if this resolves the issue,... reassemble carefully after completing these tests and try another test print.

4, shortenning the nylon may be disadvantageous, it is likely to increase the bending stress on the wiring loom.
if the carriage works ok, then don't worry, if the wiring looks tight at the extremities, and you have spare length of cable in the Einsy box, I would be tempted to get another length of Nylon and re adjust the cable bundle.

Hi Joan,

I did temp calibration after all wizard finished which has xyz calibration, z-offset, along with separate pid calibration. The system did say the optimal calibration temp is at 21-28'c but I don't really know what it calibrates. I think it calibrates the pinda probe or something.

I did check support>belt tension/stat and the results were 261 and 260. That equates the belt are firm enough. I will try unwind the nylon nuts by about 45' which is counter-clockwise on each of them. The manual stated to turn clockwise by 90' after the nut touches the base.

I only got 1 of the 3mm nylon filament for stiffening the extruder cable, unless I get it from my old mk2 parts. I did struggle a lot when inserting those extruder cables into the einsy rambo covers =\

When i upgraded from mk1 to mk2
I didnt want to re use the ABS filament that prusa used to use. Because it had already broken once. So I bought a 10 metre sample of nylon off Ebay.

I cut the end of the filament at an angle,using Flush cut cutters. So that the end of the nylon is not deformed
And that helps the support filament engage with the printed parts more easily.

I took the one from my mk2 and compared the one supplied. apparently the one supplied (residue from being cut/trimmed) is larger. I think the diameter of the one for mk3 is 4mm instead of 3mm
