Is printing diagonally ok?

I need to print a rectangle shape beyond the 250mm range (about 280mm or so) and to do this I see I can print the shape diagonally on the bed.

In doing some small samples I notice some noises from the bed/extruder that I'm not familiar with. So just wondering if it's not a good idea to print this way?

Thanks!

it's fine.

I do this occasionally. The sound will be different, all other things being equal. To put it simply for a straight, orthagonal (relative to the part) move both X and Y motors are running at the same time. Of course, to do all the myriad of necessary moves to do infill you get countless combinations of movements.

Michael,
if you print diagonally, you will probably find that the infill and top/ bottom layers print across and along the model instead of at an angle,

you could revise the fill angle to 0degrees to restore the angular infill...

Yes you can and repeating something Joan helped me with, if you get a print that doesn't come out right try printing it at 45 or 90 degrees to the original print.

Thanks Joan 🙂

I actually didn't even notice that. I'm still on the silver/grey spool which seems to hide patterns very well. In looking at the parts now I see what you mean, but it's ok as I'm still in my 'kid in the candy store/lego land' phase just printing things out of my head in wonderment.
