Inaccurate Cumulative Print Time

The Cum. Print Time reported under Statistics seems to be much higher than actual printing time or even "clock time while turned on".

Some recent prints - all in the 6h 30m range (give or take 10 minutes) and done with no more than 20 minutes before starting the next print, showed increases in Cum. Print time of 13.16, 10.00, 10.06, and 13.30 hours.

I'm still on firmware 3.1.3-245 (loathe to mess with a working system).

Maybe this is like engine hours on an airplane, where it assumes a certain RPM, so reported time will be higher or lower than clock time when the engine is run at different RPM? Does Cum. Print Time depend on some print speed value?

There's also the case of car odometers / speedometer which (I have been told) are set to run intentionally high (often right up to an allowed certification limit of 6% error in the U.S. (I have been told)) so that drivers think they are driving faster than actual and the warranty runs out sooner.

Any thoughts?

Re: Inaccurate Cumulative Print Time

Mine seemed to be accurate for the 1st few months, then glitched during or right after a firmware update. It showed something like 75 days and 1Km filament. I finally just reset the counter out of annoyance. It would've been nice to keep a running tally, but it's essential like a car odometer.

Did you do a factory reset, or is there some other handy way to reset the counters. My filament count looks about right, but my print time is horribly wrong -- something like 79 days, when I've had my printer less that three weeks including time to put the kit together.

Yes, I did a factory reset though for a different reason. I haven't paid a lot of attention to the times as a result. I'm not sure if it's any more accurate at this point.

RE: Inaccurate Cumulative Print Time

Powered up my MK3s kit for the first time 21 days ago.  This AM cumulative print time is showing over 37 days which cannot be.  No root cause or resolution for which anyone is aware?

Thank you,

Steve
