Improper purge line

I have some thing going on that I would like to see if anybody else and run into.
Before I ask I need to present some background.

I bought my MK3s used. It was very damaged during shipping due to totally inadequate packing. Most of the mounting brackets were broken in two. Both Z-axis stepper motor brackets, the Y-axis stepper motor mounting bracket as well as the LCD housing and both brackets were broken. Even the Einsy door was damaged. I looks like the package was dropped from at least 10 or 15 feet onto concrete.

I have replaced all the broken parts and thought I had everything covered.

But I recently discovered that the nozzle had smashed into the left side of the bed. It hit so hard that it pushed the nozzle sideways and cracked the heartbreak at the top of the heaterblock.

I replaced the entire hotend.

Now, finally, to my question. Although the machine seems to printing ok, even though I'm not completely satisfied with every print, I am seeing something weird with the purge line. Before I replaced the hotend it extended what I think was normally across the front of the bed. Now it doesn't start until about 40mm from the left edge of the bed and as you can see from the pic, it's kind of wide. I've tried setting the first layer temp from 240 and 245 but it didn't change. I have applied glue stick to make removal of the purge line easier.

My thought was that the Y-carriage might be bent. Have a new one but I haven't installed it yet. Does anybody have any thoughts. I think the first layer height is good. If it isn't could that cause this?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Improper purge line

I believe the purge line is only there to ensure that molten filament has made it all the way to the nozzle tip and enough pressure has built up. I get that all the time if I'm heating up for a new print from cold with filament already loaded. Hence 'purge'. I'd personally not worry unless nothing comes out before the end. The skirt is far more important, I understand that's where the pressure is stabilised such that it's exactly what the slicer intended. As long as the first layer is fine, then everything should be okay.

(I rub a finger over the plate, or don't clean, around the purge area to help the stuff detach:-)
