I3 MK3 - Upgrade to E3D V6 All-Metal Hotend
Hello Prusa Community:
I decided to upgrade my I3 MK3 to the E3d All-Metal Hotend. I would like to know if there is anything in particular abuot the I3 that I would need to be aware of prior to installing this new hotend. I made this decision after purchasing the I3 MK3S upgrade kit. So I would to know if there is anything in particular I should be aware of when I perform the install of both of these upgrades?
I have the parts for the MK3S upgrade already and will receive a pre-assembled all-metal hotend. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

True. MK3 and MK3S have genuine ED3V6 all metal hotends. The only difference is the Prusa defined heatbreak made by E3D for the Prusa. With a 2mm to I think a 2.2mm throat. Thats all.

Hi melvi-l3,
Not sure where you stand on your hotend consideration but the MK3S upgrade is well worth it. I feel like I'm smashing trash can kids together and broadcasting to the world, but in my opinion (would like to say technically inclined opinion) the only hotend that truly adds value to the MK3S is the Mosquito from Slice Engineering. The MK3S adaptor is on their Website. The adaptor has a block attached to the hotend that may need a little sanding for fitting. Other than that just follow the Prusa instructions and all will be well.

Hi melvi-l3,
Not sure where you stand on your hotend consideration but the MK3S upgrade is well worth it. I feel like I'm smashing trash can lids together and broadcasting to the world, but in my opinion (would like to say technically inclined opinion) the only hotend that truly "adds" value to the MK3S is the Mosquito from Slice Engineering. The MK3S adaptor is on their Website. The adaptor has a block attached to the hotend that may need a little sanding for fitting. Also for any of the hotends take special care for the PTFE tube fitment in length. You really want the tube to fit perfectly between the raised shoulder and the final resting place in or on the hotend. If you are installing the Mosquito (V6 for that matter) take some care to flatten and deburr the PTFE tubing end adjoining the hotend. The other end needs to be tight against the PTFE channel shoulder adjacent to the extruder gears. For the rest just follow the Prusa instructions and all will be well. The instructions will have you to make sure a piece of filament feeds freely through the filament path stopping at the nozzle. I'f not rinse and repeat......
I think I got that right 😉

Also - if you "upgrade" to the E3d-V6, make sure you bought the 24v-40w heater, not the standard 24v-30w, or you'll lose capability in the swap.
RE: I3 MK3 - Upgrade to E3D V6 All-Metal Hotend
This "upgrade" is really intended for earlier i3 printers or clones that come with lesser hotends. The Mk3 doesn't need it.
