How long does the printer wait for filament switch?
I am wondering once the filament sensor detects that the filament ran out, how long will the printer wait for the filament to be replaced? So for example, I leave for work when the filament runs out, will the printer wait for 8 hours or does it cool down at some point which means that the print will probably no longer adhere to the print surface?

My experience is it cools the nozzle but not the heat bed, and will wait for user intervention.

That's good to know. I wasn't sure what's going to happen to I forced a filament change while I was still at home and used a fresh spool. Next time I may test this by cutting the filament and waiting to see what happens after few hours.

There is no timeout. Like tim mentioned, it will cool down the nozzle after some time to prevent burned in filament.
