How do we avoid having our images horizontally stretched on this new forum?

It's horrible what the forum now does to uploaded images. Every image I upload now seems to get horizontally stretched.

Going back, editing the image in post and turning on/off constraint proportions does nothing.

How on earth do we avoid this distortion.?

Ugh. Clicking the image button and linking to off-site images is much easier. Just unclick Contstrain proportions.

Double Ugh! I had hoped it wasn't another case of reduced functionality.

Reminds me of MacOS Finder losing its ability to proportionally treat non-square icons. It's not THAT hard to code!

Next, all our picts will need to be portrait mode so they look good on a phone.

I am guessing it's all about the meta data in the image file.  If the meta says portrait, the web site treats it as portrait; and if anything Apple has touched the image then resolution and dpi come into play and had better match (they often don't on Mac's).  I'm a Windows user, and throw images up from three different sources, four if you count images from the web, and I have not seen or had any image related issues except the stupid default to only show a thumbnail even when the forum stores the full size image.  How silly is that?

I have almost given up with this forum. I tried to upload an image (upload media) and the forum insisted on turning it through 90 Deg, so I stripped all meta data, properties etc from the image, checked and double checked, uploaded and the damned forum still insisted on rotating the image and renaming the image to <imagename>1, so now I have two copies of the same image, and just to add insult to injury, there is no way I can find to delete the media.

Worst forum I can ever remember this.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

In the MEDIA frame, click on the media you want to delete and press delete?  Nope - doesn't work as expected.  Once upon a time I was able to delete an upload this way.

I'd wager there is supposed to be a MEDIA tab in out profile that allows media management - a tab the Prusa devs have yet to discover. Much like the Link To Media File default I really wish they'd set.

I love to share findings and helpful picts.

When forum image process is more work (maintaining a separate image repository) or comes out distorted, Prusa dissuades participation.

It actually makes sense that deleting images would be prevented so that people don't (accidentally) cut helpful posts off at the knees by deleting a helpful pic that they don't think is needed any more. If that were the reason, however, they should be able to track the posts an image is linked in and allow you to delete images that aren't being used.

I do see other reasons, however, that the user should be able to delete images (e.g. realized that they included PII or otherwise inappropriate info in the image).

I also get the default to showing a thumbnail image so that slower connections (they are still rather common) aren't hit with a page with 20 2+MB images to download and also so that formatting isn't blown to hell due to someone posting a 1080p or 4k image.

I do agree the auto-rotation, stretching, and not defaulting to link to full size images is ridiculous though.
