****HELP**** filament loading but not extruding
I’ve been having good prints for 6 months. Then I switched out the nozzle to a hardened steel one, loaded in protopasta brass-filled filament, and printed a perfect benchy! When I tried a larger model, it stopped extruding halfway through. I stopped the print. Whilst trying to switch out the nozzle back (assuming this was the problem) the extruder started smoking. I now have replaced the ptfe tube, switched out the nozzle, and have now gotten the extruder to stop smoking. But whenever I load the filament, it seems to only make it to the heat break, nothing comes out of the nozzle. My small 3d printing business is on the line, so please help!
I also found out that my extruder fan is spinning half as fast as it should. Prusa has no explanation as to how to fix this, so advice on this would also be appreciated!
RE: ****HELP**** filament loading but not extruding
is the hot end fan a genuine Prusa fan, or an aftermarket fan?
I Had issues with an aftermarket fan, I Found I could boost the hot end fan speed, but the printer would reset it and another blockage would occur...
Very annoying.
I Found there is a hidden experimental menu that allowed me to alter the fan speed... this may help you

RE: ****HELP**** filament loading but not extruding
My printer is a Prusa clone, and I tried this. But it boosted the speed to 8000! A prusa article (I can't remember which one) says that it should be around 4000. I appreciate this information, but it didn't help at all with loading and extruding the filament.
