Have all those issues with MMU2S been solved?

Hi, for those who bought it the past few weeks, do you encounter issues that other users have been complaining? Is it still troublesome to use this product?

RE: Have all those issues with MMU2S been solved?

The MMU2 is not a beginner add-on.

Got one of the first MMU2 units and after a while of trying to make it work, I gave up.

Half a year ago I upgraded to MMU2S with latest parts and firmware and it is working now and absolutely usable.
Only change to stock version is the magnet modification to keep the ball down and prevent false run out detection due to filament string.

When assembling it is very important to align everything correct and make sure all filament path is clean with no printing debris to block the passage (clean holes with a drill).

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Thanks. How to do the magnet modification? Do we have to clean the passage at the end of each print job? Once it is working, does it work well when using water soluble filament? Will the setting be easy?

On BF week, Amazon stated that the Palette 2S Pro came back in stock on the product page. I ordered and paid for the fastest shipping. It still has not been shipped and they now told me that it is not in stock and they don't know when it will be shipped. I am on the verge of cancelling it.

The magnet modification is just a magnet in the standard part under the ball. There is some published designs on Thingiverse - Can't remember where I got mine...

Can't help with water soluble filament as I have never used it and the same goes for the Palette add-on.

RE: Have all those issues with MMU2S been solved?

I purchased my MMU2S kit in early April 2020.  Initially had problems getting it to feed reliably but kept tinkering with it trying this-and-that according to what I read on this forum.  Finally noted that the filament pressure selector roller seemed to have too much rotational play and discovered the pair of set screws were loose.  Tightened them and have had fewer problems.  Spent a lot of time worrying about the retract speed and the shape of the filament end, none of which helped.  Finally just went back to the original Prusa settings and now it rarely misses a filament change.  Occasionally it misses a filament cut or bends a filament feed-in and I have to open the printer  enclosure to snip the bent filament; then it works just fine.

The unit is an interesting mechanical/software implementation but it does work.

@prusanewuser

Seems that I made my own model from the original (mmu2-selector-finda.SCAD) to place the magnet (6x1 mm round) under the steel ball.

I have uploaded my model for others to use... here

@prusanewuser

I have mine since 2019. I had a lot of problems and it took a while before i could iron out all of them. Most of my problems were due to the tips. I second the magnet modification. Also in my case the dribbling version of slicer and the latest cutter modification in the firmware played an important role. But to be honest i don't use it very often due to the extra time it adds when using 2 or more materials. Even when it works ok the loading/unloading consumes a lot of time.
