Fysetc (Fystec?) build sheet?

Welp I really did it last night! To put it bluntly I f'd up my build sheet. Print would not pop off so I put it in the fridge for an hour, still would not pop so I put it in the freezer overnight.

I gave it a good twist and it sounded like it came off but along with it came about a 2 inch piece of the coating.

Other side is still good but I do want a new one. I looked on the website and didn't find any available, plus I remembered someone else saying they were not in stock. So I looked on Amazon.

I can get a Fysetc brand sheet in a couple days, lots faster than a backorder all the way from Czechia!

Any reason I shouldn't order this one? And, how do you pronounce Fysetc, anyway?

Tia!

RE: Fysetc (Fystec?) build sheet?

Been there, done that, unfortunately.

Shortly after assembling my printer, I had an ABS print which refused to budge, and I got impatient and used a kitchen implement (small spatula) to pry it off, and a few pieces of the PEI came off with it.  Lesson learned the hard way.  See the boo-boos on the plate to the left and above the model below.

I've been told (by people here, IIRC) that you can 're-skin' those plates, carefully removing the old PEI with a solvent (limonene?) and applying a stick-on PEI sheet.

I still print with the one below for smaller prints, but the other side is starting to show some wear, so I'm thinking of re-skinning it instead of trashing it.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the FYSETC (sp?) brand, but I don't remember hearing anything negative.  I would assume if it's just smooth PEI it will probably work fine, but YMMV.  😉

Can't confirm for sure the right way to pronounce Fystec, but I can tell you I run 2 x textured pei Fystec sheets that have impressed. They perform extremely well (great adhesion when warm, let go of filament easily when cold etc). The textured finish is not quite as nice as prusa sheets, but it's not at all bad and the thickness across the sheet is consistent. Very happy with mine.

Thx, just ordered it. Should be in Friday. I'll try it and let everyone know how it works.

RE: Fysetc (Fystec?) build sheet?

A similar thing happened to me tonight.

The printer had not been used for about a week, and I did two quick PLA prints and one ABS print.

I used Layerneer as a release agent for the ABS print, let it cool to almost room temperature, and when I popped it off, a huge chunk of the PEI came off with it.

The adhesive below the torn-off piece is still tacky, but apparently not sticky enough.  The piece that came off with the print peeled right off of the print, so I know it's not a case of not enough release agent.

I'm going to try re-skinning the plate.  I ordered two PEI sheets and I'll give it a go.

I pretty much avoid all release agents (except hair spray and windex) with the smooth PLA for this reason.  Over adhesion is too common.

RE:

There are other options now.  There are a few satin-type and powder-coated PEI sheets from other makers.  A google search will reveal them.
