Full model not highlighted when selected
I got a model from thingiverse.
it is one object, however the cap is not highlighted when seleccted. Meaning things like paint on supports won't work correctly. Other models don't show models that have unhighlighted parts. Why is this happening?

The model is almost certainly broken. The dark green areas are an immediate indication of that, does it have yellow triangle next to it in the list ? Hover over that and it will tell you how many errors it has. If you are on windows you can try right clicking and fix through netfabb option. If not then you will have to find some other way to fix it.

Thank you very much. Your reply taught me to look at the errors first. Many Thingiverse files do have errors. However, almost always they print find. In this case, that was not the case. Happily, I was on Windows and fixing worked.

BTW, The errors your seeing in the darker area are (Flipped Normals), that's how Slicer shows them.
