Firmware 3.6.0-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

WARNING: Note that MK3S, MK3, MK2.5 and MK2.5 are different printers! Each has its own firmware file!!!

Hi guys,
this is a final version of the firmware recommended to all users. Compared to the 3.6.0-RC1 smarter load/unload/eject" has been improved.

What is new?
-> Initial version for MK3S and MK2.5S printers with MMU2 unit
-> Smarter load to nozzle/unload/eject function for multi material printers and single material version improved
-> Stop print during filament change fixed

Initial version for MK3S and MK2.5S printers with MMU2 unit
This the first firmware to support MK3S/MK2.5S printer with MMU2 unit. This combination of hardware is officially called MK3S MMU2S or MK2.5S MMU2S.

Smarter load to nozzle/unload/eject function for multi material printers and single material version improved
This feature has been recently added to firmware in 3.5.2-RC1 version, but this initial version has been working only for single material printers (without MMU2 connected). In this firmware version, it has been extended to provide similar function also for multi material printers. We also decided to change function slightly to make it more useful for most users. When a user chooses to load filament (for example) with the cold nozzle for example, preheat menu appears and both nozzle and heatbed are preheated (to save some time later when starting a print) and printer waits for the nozzle to preheat close to the target temperature (5% below target). When preheating is finished, printer beeps and the user can start loading filament. Target temperature remains the same after the load is finished as we assume that most load/unload scenarios precede starting new print.

Stop print during filament change fixed
When stopping print during the T-code execution nozzle could crash into wiping tower. This has been fixed.

Re: Firmware 3.6.0-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

Hi I have an i3 MK2.5 + MMU2 that I have been having problems with. Having fixed some mechanical problems with the MMU2 (reprinted parts on another lesser machine) I uploaded the latest firmware on the Prusa website and flashed both the MMU2 and the Printer. The firmware seesm to introduce loads of issues -

Random Minimum Bed Temp warnings when it's at 30 degrees!

Inability to run the First Layer Calibration (just sits there after the initial wipe but continues to extrude)

Grinding Extruder gears (sometimes going in the wrong direction!

I checked that I had downloaded the correct version for my machine (which I had) so I assumed it was a corrupted download or flash, so I tried again twice - the second time doing a fresh download from the website. This had just the same end result. NB I have done 'factory resets' as well before and after flashing - all just the same.

So today I reverted back to the previous firmware (downloaded fresh) and the machine is now able to run the first layer calibration and has successfully completed a test print.

I am waiting for delivery of the MK2.5S upgrade but have lots of work I need to get completed for clients so this is all very frustrating.

Any chance you could look into it and see if there is a problem at your end tailoring for the MK2.5 + MMU2?

Thanks,

Adrian

Re: Firmware 3.6.0-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

I just updated to 3.6.0 about an hour ago. Now whenever I send a job to the printer, the extruder scoots over to the corner and asks me to unload/load the filament. I do and it does, then heads over to the front left corner as if to start the print. It then heads over to do a filament change again. And again. And again.

I've rebooted via soft reset, I've powered off the printer for 5 minutes, I've restarted Sli3er...I'm not sure what else to do here.

I have an i3 MK3 3D printer. Did I install the wrong firmware maybe?

Here's the log from the 2nd filament reinstall:

I was very happy to see:
Stop print during filament change fixed
When stopping print during the T-code execution nozzle could crash into wiping tower. This has been fixed.
But this is not the case. Several prints with this firmware still have the crash into the wiping tower.

Actualy, the problem is a bit different. When the filament is unloading, the heat from the nozzle heat's up the wiping tower
which deforms. The next time the nozzle passes a ridge and after a few layers the wiping tower is kicked off the build platform.

I hope this helps. Maybe the nozzle needs to move to an aera between printing object and wiping tower?

I have a Mk2.5, and am suffering from the same issues of randon min bed temp alarms when bed is heating up. going to revert back to 3.5.2

Yes i tried the 3.6.0 on a MK3 and everytime i tried to print it would want to unload the filament and also the autoload no longer worked so i have gone back to 3.5.1.

Yes, but WHICH 3.6.0 did you try, the one for the MK3 or the one for the MK3S? Load the wrong one and your filament sensor won't work.

FWIW the MK3S version of 3.6.0 is working fine on my MK3S.

Re: Firmware 3.6.0-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

for the MK3, is it possible to edit the firmware to keep the Live adjust Z through out the print then it going away after so many layers? where would this option be in the firmware?

I see a temperature drop issue with this firmware. Printer is in enclosure LACK and plexi. No sudden temperature changes in the room.

Re: Firmware 3.6.0-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

I am having a different type of problem. Now when my printer sees the second t-code it just stalls. The temps are all good and it will run all the way through the purge line but then it stalls at that spot.
I would like to be able to print without having to hand edit my gcode file everytime.
thanks in advance

if you don't have multi-material, just comment it out in Slic3r setting. not sure why it's there

Re: Firmware 3.6.0-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

Downloaded, flashed, started the first print.
While waiting for the printer to heat up getting shocked while reading the forum... 😮
Was the update a mistake? Do I need to roll-back onto a previous version? 😕

So far I LOVE the refined calibration of 7x7 and increased number of probing-points! I can clearly see the z-axis moving in different speeds while it's drawing a line across the whole bed (it's a large flat print...). 😎
Quite a satisfactory thing, to watch it doing it, mesmerizing...

Also notable is the difference in silent-mode of the MMU...
Makes the printer a whole level less noisy!
😎 😎 😎

Because I had to move homes, I was only able to update the printer after almost three months, but boy, is this an improvement...!

For those errors reported before my post - none of these happened here...?

Jakub,
please extend my greatings to the team, please keep the good work up! 🙂

What do you mean? Reports in other topics? In this particular topics there's not many things reported, where is the bug report list?
