Which version should we use for a MK3 that has the MK3S update kit (extruder) applied ❓

Hi James,
the difference between MK3 and MK3S is in the filament sensor

MK3 = Optical filament sensor => MK3 firmware
MK3S = New IR-sensor => MK3S firmware

Therefore as soon as you upgrade the MK3 extruder with the IR-sensor it becomes MK3S from the firmware point of view.

I don't have an MMU2 and haven't got my MK3S upgrade yet (ts on the wayc 😀 ) but here's a question anyway. Which firmware is recommended for a MK3S with MMU2 attached? 3.5.2 with the filament sensor disabled?

Hi,
MMU2S firmware is being finalized as we speak. It should be available soon.

I had the same issue after assembling my MK3S kit.

What I did to diagnose was to go to the sensor test, and see if you can get it to change when putting the filament in and out.

Mine didn't change, so I took the cover off, then removed the screw in the sensor board.

Once the board was loose, I could see that the little flag was right on the edge and when the sensor was screwed in place, the sensor was blocked and when I had the sensor loose, it was working.

I didn't want to disassemble to the whole unit (again), so what I did to "fix" it was to put a little plastic shim under the left side of the sensor board, which was just enough to make it work consistently. (I used a little strip that gets laid down when I start a new print)

Put the cover back on, taking care to not over tighten it.

My little flipper appears to be fully functional, so I'm not quite sure why it wasn't lined up correctly.

It has been fine since the fix.
